We were looking for a cosy place for lunch and stumbled across this restaurant. It was around 13h00 and packed. We went back 20 minutes later and were able to have a nice table for two by the window. A lovely cosmopolitan feel about the place, nicely decorated with the food and drinks menus on large blackboards on the walls. The staff were very friendy and the service excellent. We had a good meal with wine (half litre) followed by a cafe gourmand normal coffee, all for just over EUR 50 for the two of us.Apparently they change their menu every week. Great choice of wine at good prices, a good portion of food (I could not finish) which was very tasty. Not a large choice, but very adequate and...
Whenever I'm in Thonon I like to stop at Chez Fernand for a good noisette or espresso because they have the best coffee in town. They also make a great juice of the day, different everyday made with fresh fruit. It is always excellent. You can also have a light and healthy lunch, last time I was there I took the goat cheese salad and it was very good. For dessert I took a chocolate tart and I was also very tasty. Prices affordable. Food made of fresh quality products. The waitresses and barmen very nice, smiley and helpful. Very good place for a quick and healthy meal.
With daily concoctions of fresh juices, ranging from melon-raspberry to orange-papaya-kiwi, single-grove coffees, and emphasis on local, healthful products, Fernand Cie is a destination worth putting on your itinerary, whether you reside nearby or are travelling through the area to visit the Évian/Chamonix region....The owners are friendly, dynamic, and upbeat, and the location feels like you’re spending a nice afternoon at a friend’s low-key vacation home. Homemade desserts are delicious!
They have about 7 items to choose from in small portion sizes. You get 4 choices for about 14 euros, 5 for 15.5 euros (from memory) which is then enough for a decent meal.Pros: will take orders relatively late (past 2PM). Great if you are in a hurry - service was very quick even though the place was full. Food was pretty good.Cons: Only serve food at lunch. No bookings. A bit cramped. we stayed on Saturday for lunch and enjoyed the plate they choose under the menu list, great concept, amazing eating! we go back to try the weekday menu.
