We called in lunchtime to see if we could get a reservation that evening, and got a table for the first service 19:15 to 21:15. Sat out on the terrace in beautiful weather. The food is very enjoyable and I thought there was plenty of it. I started with 'crab mayonnaise ' and for some reason expected a bowl of dressed crab with some mayo on it. Not so: a whole boiled crab and a dish of mayonnaise on the side, so if you don 't know how to eat a whole crab don 't order it. But it was delicious. The main course of 'ris de veau et langoustines ' was very rich and creamy; the combination of veal sweetbreads and langoustine is sheer heaven! I have been eating at Chez Gaby for over 20 years. It started as a small ‘shack’ but is now a sophisticated restaurant. It is the best on the port. You can eat inside or out but are advised to book. It is in a great location on the side of the creek where working boats come and go. With the tide. The menu offers shell fish, fish and meat which sets it apart from other restaurants on the port. There are fixed price menus and al La carte. The food and service is very good. The pricing is reasonable and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
We visited chez Gaby in August with out two boys. we had two plates with oysters and a plate of prawns with fried potato chips. Fresh Apple juice for the boys and we had a lovely white wine le Royal. We highly recomend this establishment. Merci!
The guys at chez gaby made a birthday really special for our 9 year old. On top of serving a delicious fruits de mare, the whole team seranaded him with a calypso version of happy birthday. Superb setting. Book up.
