we were visiting on the New Year's Day, so nothing was opened except this restaurant. from the outside, it seemed pleasant and there was a reasonable menu - both price and choice. After being driven to our table by a pleasant young waiter, the owner of the restaurant took over. we stopped at hubert's for a family lunch on a journey around nimes. We couldn't have chosen worse places to eat! never of all our lives we have met a more coarse, unfriendly and inattentive staff! Now, we don't want a staff who never leaves you alone, but whoever really notices that you're here would be good. This is our second visit here and our second critic. We were travelling in large group and I recommended this place to the group during our last visit to nimes. One by one, the people of the group joined us every night, until we all ate there. the star gastronomic delight was the slowly cooked roast lamb for 7 hours. We all ate that, some of us ate it more than a night, and I ate it the three nights we were at sea. the choice of food was superb, just like their selection of wines. it is difficult to find an open restaurant on January 1st, so we really had no other choice but to go to this place even if its location next to a major tourist attraction suggests that there is a chance that it is too expensive (which turned out to be the case for a measure). the man in charge, probably the owner, spoke a little English but confused the octopus with the squid, so I had some sort of calamars rings instead of the desired mollusc. The food was good but nothing enthralling. fun as mentioned in the previous commentary, I also noticed some arrogance in the owner's behavior, although not as pronounced.
I couldn't decide whether to give three or four stars. The server was super-friendly and very helpful. the frame is inviting. a good wine with food and food seemed excellent while we were eating it because of the occasion, but with the hindsight it could have been better. there was a very simple main dish in ham and dauphenory potatoes and potatoes were disappointing - I thought those in franc would be the best of all time! overall, food needed more taste.

after our visit after lunch at the arena, we stopped here for dessert. my wife's was made of ice cream, mine was fruity. Both were very good. sitting where we did it, our pleasure was strengthened by the superb view we had on the arena.
service is good but food was nothing special. The interior is charming and sitting out in the street is wonderful, especially since you are in the shadow of the powerful arena.
