As I was to spend 5 days working and visiting Versailles including two days with a great international patissiere / chocolatier on a one to one development session my pulse had quickened just for the fact I would be eating my beloved French cuisine again.Chez Renaud was only 100 metres from my hotel in a pretty Versailles street and close to a typical quite picturesque square.The restaurant was bright and cheerful enough but over lit for an evening meal, the waiter appeared promptly enough. This was the first restaurant we went to in our 2nd day in Paris. Due to an unfortunate event in an airline our first day was wasted on waiting in Doha. As Chez Renaud was our first trial of french restaurants we were clueless as to what awaits us. We are not however clueless with regards to good food regardless of where you are eating at. Had dinner with a group of friends, the restaurant was well appointed, but again, to modern for the food that was being served. What's happened to those wonderful local French bistro restaurants dripping in atmosphere ! You really did get the impression that the owner either had had a busy summer season or really didn't want to many people to serve on any one evening. Our main courses varied, from being cold to being hot on the plate, most annoying though, was that the restaurant never had more than two bottles of any one wine in stock and as we were quite a large group this meant we ended up sampling most of what they had on offer in their cellar when we wanted to order another bottle !May...

We went here on a warm Tuesday evening in September, the inside was packed however tables outside, within 5 minutes the owner came and spoke to us and showed us the menu on a large blackboard, he helped translate the menu. There was fixed price for 2 courses or 3 (25 euro for 3). The food was unbelivable, good size portions and everything was freshly cooked. Even though they were busy never had to wait long, after the main course we were told to just let them know when we wnated dessert. With craft of house white bill came to 64 euros. Not exactly in front of the Palace, but in a quite area between market and palace, this restaurant can offer you different typical french food from starter to dessert. We enjoy raviloes, croustilles and salmon, The dining room is soft and clean, waiter available and friendly and do good effort to make you feel confortable. When we went there, it was more a family "ambiance" but sure, you can book for any kind of events. Price are also raisonnables for such a City. I will certainly come back.

One of the very rare Versailles restaurant where food is HOME MADE.I live in this area and it is the best value for money and one of the best for its quality (I tried many over there). I go there with my wife or for business lunch with foreign people who do appreciate real good and tasty french food.Please keep this home made food and nice casual atmosphere where you can discuss with the boss.Christophe

The food was timely and the waiter was extraordinaryily helpful. Appetizers are a little small so if you plan to eat just that, it won't be enough. The chef even came out and took away our plates and brought the dessert.All of the other places around the block seemed too expensive or too broad. This place definitely hit the spot and was very worth it! Just a few minutes walk from the palace.

The food here is typical french cuisine and no doubt rich in flavour. We had the escargots, the salmon and some other dish whose name I have forgotten. Everything was delicious and the owner/waiter were very friendly. There are few tables and I am not sure if they take reservations, try and get there early.By Versailles, standards I do not think the meal was that expensive. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Good food, nice environment, good service, pleasant staff. We were only customer for some reason - perhaps because it was a time of few people staying in Versailles as most stay in Paris and go to Versailles for the day to visit chateau. Recommend it however.

From starter to dessert quality service have been so surprising I would definitely recommend this place for local and foreigners who want to eat high quality French food with top good value for money !!!
