Went there with a friend. It was my 5th visit to Burgundy and first for my friend. I told her that the restaurants are excellent there and wanted her to be nicely surprised. We had wine tasting earlier at château de meursault, booked the hotel in the village and wanted to go to the restaurant nearby. This restaurant is listed in Michelin guide and I expected something outstanding. The service was not very friendly. The tables served without table cloth, no plates for the bread. The red wine by glass was below average and the only had 2 not meat dishes. We had the fish. May be there are famous for their meat dishes, who knows. We didn't have a chance to try. There is no music in the restauran...
The family-run Chez Richard sits on the main road in Meursault between Beaune and Chagny (ie not in the town itself). The dining room is modern, neat and attractive and the service and welcome excellent. The owner speaks English.Food was outstanding. As well as the mix-and-match formulas, allowing you to have as much or as little as you want, there were also half a dozen chef's suggestions and a dish of the day. Of these we tried the foie gras and the stuffed quail, both of which were delicious. The wine list is as good as you would expect in this area, although there are few wines available at the cheaper end. We had an Auxey-Duresses for 39€ and a Chorey les Beaune for 33€, both delightful...
The restaurant was open at a very quiet time of year and is close to Mersault town. The food was delicious and the atmosphere good, albeit the restaurant was quiet (as you should expect, in February). The decor is lovely and modern and welcoming. The staff were very friendly (the chef kept a watchful eye on his customers from the kitchen and made an effort to say hello and goodbye to everyone). The staff speak good English and the food was genuinely scrumptious. A relatively small yet delicious (and accessible) menu. Would definitely return. Highly recommended.
When traveling from Beaune to Chassagne on Route D974, we noticed this restaurant and decided to check it out. We were immediately greeted at the door and felt right at home. This was the beginning of a great experience at Chez Richard. The decor is bright and modern and love the idea of being able to watch chefs in their kitchen. For dinner, we had the rillette de lapin, pasta with sweetbreads and pigeon, all which were excellent. If you're looking for a great restaurant in Burgundy area, I highly recommend coming here.

If you're visiting Bourgogne it's a 'must do' on your bucket list. If you're staying in Meursault you have no excuse! The food is amazing, and will not fail to impress even the most discerning. We loved the traditional french cuisine which had an elegant class added to it. Service is friendly, fast and efficient, and at the same time you feel like you're in someone's home.I urge you to try it, you'll be sorry if you don't.
Food was really tasty and the service was excellent! We can recommend this restaurant if you are around Meursault.We got an amuse as well which we didn't expect. Price wise it comparable with other local restaurants. In my opinion the Bourgogne area is not really cheap in general but the surroundings and lovely people make up for that.
An unassuming frontage leads to a good experience true 'foodies' will revel in. All courses were exceptional. Being in Burgundy, the Beef Bourguignon had to be sampled. Best we've had - period!Highly recommended and friendly service too. One of the best meals I've had out in France and that is saying something.
We visited here as we are staying nearby in Pommard. The food is wonderful and so full of flavour. The wine list is extensive with some very good wines by the glass. I can honestly say that the dessert was one of the best I have had in France. Also the service is excellent.
