I'm a recent transplant to the Ala Moana/Ena area so the first thing I did was scout the neighborhood for food options. Luckily, the likes of Aloha Kitchen, Sunny's, and Food Pantry are just steps away. Even better, whenever the craving for Japanese food hits, Chiba ken is literally 200 steps away I've been here about 10x now and it's always a great experience. The food is good but I like the service and the vibe even better. Unlike a lot of restaurants, there doesn't seem to be a server assigned to your table/section anyone that walks by is constantly checking on you. That was really one of the worst sushi I recently had. The rice was dry and crumbled, making the sushi difficult to eat. In addition, not every piece contained fish that was strange.. I was ordering food to go. The most outrageous part was that since I’m not dinning in, I was not allowed to sit at the bar or elsewhere inside (the restaurant was almost empty though), so I had to wait literally on a chair on the sidewalk with no AC in the heat.
The sushi quality is phenomenal. The tuna tasted smooth and buttery. Heavenly. If you care about fish quality, this is the place. I had to leave a review saying that. Service was very attentive and kind. They brought out ice cream for my birthday I WILL fly all the way back just to try this sushi again. Also I love the shirts the workers wear.
Oh my goodness. Went here on a whim because we felt like something lite for dinner. Ended up getting a seven piece sashimi omakase. So so good it was like butter. So fresh. Loved this place. We love sushi and have pretty high standards for it. We got the sashimi platter, edemame, gyoza and the spider roll. Everything was super tasty and great price.
