This review would be much more positive , if after having found a long hair in my meal, any of the waitresses had apologised to me, but instead very swiftly asked me if I "want another meal" or "take it off the bill" (seems like they offer this alot, the way it rolled off the tongue). A simple apology would have been ok, yet the woman at the counter was impolite and had a very unpleasant attitude. Not to mention, the lack of eye contact when paying our bill.I understand these things happen, but if there is a problem with the food, at least the service should be good. Unfortunately, not a good experience.
It would be so easy to just walk past this Chinese Restaurant/Café. It does not have much appeal from the street but my work buddy has eaten there several times before when visiting Prahran. He happens to be Chinese as well! We arrived at around 8.30pm on Tuesday night as our flight from Sydney had been delayed due to the bad weather. There was only one other table there when we arrived. By the time we had ordered another three tables arrived and the place was buzzing. It is BYO and cash only so make sure you are organised as one table had to run out and find cash to pay their bill.
This is a fabulous little restaurant in the heart of Prahran providing yummy Chinese food, full of flavours and spice and at a very cheap price. The dumpling restaurant two doors up was twice the price. We did not book and walked in off the street, when there were plenty of empty tables. Within 30 minutes, the place was full.Quick, friendly and polite service and a nice menu with plenty of choices. It is licensed to BYO wine as well.Highly recommended.
Walked past it during the two days I stayed at The Cullen... Unassuming Chinese place... But decided to give it a try for its reasonable price. Enjoyed the quiet environment... Had the Chili Chicken with rice.... When it arrived, I was surprised by the amount of veggies in it (love veggies) and the spicy taste was lovely! It doesnt look special from the outside but its a little gem of a place in terms of food quality and food prep. Great bang for buck chinese food. The steamed dumplings are the signature dish and are fantastic. You cant tell the ingrediants are fresh all the time. I have been here many times and the food is always consistently good
Being a dumpling conisueer I thought I'd try this place. Deliscous is the word I'd use. Good value, tasty food and nice staff. When the place is full of Chinese people it is generally a good indicator. Well done guys, I will be back!
We come here almost weekly, great priced dumplings and very local friendly feel. BYO. Can often be full but you usually don't have to wait long to get a table. Can be noisy due to the small size. Toilets however are a disaster.
Great for a huge bowl of dumplings, soup or a quick lunch of any meat, veg and rice. You won't find better dumplings for the price. Super casual, plenty to eat . Two can eat a good sized meal for under $25. What value. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Best dumplings we have had for a long time. BYO restaurant. Little small but meals come out quick so if it was all you wouldn't have to wait long. Meal only cost $30. If you fancy dumplings go here.
