We do like to include nice meals when touring in our campervan and chose Choko Ona whilst staying at the aire in Espelette. We made our booking for 8pm (which is when they open) and received a friendly welcome. It was a warm evening so the bi-fold doors were open onto the vegetable garden. The tables were nicely spaced out giving diners plenty of privacy. They were aware we were English and we appreciated having a waitress who could speak English. We chose the 4 course menu at €56 per head. We started with the creative house cocktail of gin, strawberry sorbet, wine and cardamom. I have to say that choko ona is one of the most unforgettable. reception is carefully and organized with precision and benevolence. the result is a restaurant not overloaded in a charming and tastefully decorated atmosphere. we think everything was thought in the slightest detail, local covers, contacted service plates with dishes. we add the must, the table that contains the covers of the various services and even a hook to hang its bag. 4-course service was a pleasure, scented with fresh ingredients. The mix of dishes and wines is perfect. The rate is more than reasonable for a star. when booking, we are invited to specify if we have allergies. what was my case, the chef adapted two dishes...
In the heart of Espelette, this restaurant is a small nugget. We enjoyed the reception and service of the staff who is at the small care, the place that is elegant, while remaining simple. Not to mention the kitchen that made us discover different product associations. Beef tartar was divine, shells and crustaceans surprising and delicious. Special mention for the breads of the village baker, a feast. Small flat just dessert, asparagus. For us, it doesn't mix with dessert. After that depends on the tastes of each because technically well realized. We will come back with pleasure to make it discover our family.
reunions for us, had discovered the restaurant in 2019 at its opening. this happiness a very pleasant, sober and classy setting. Bravo to the chef and his team for his kitchen a discovery on each plate, taste the flavors with quality products. Bravo, we'll advise him with his eyes closed.

Extremely good: from the atmosphere to service. Wine. We loved everything! It is particularly appreciated to discover non-traditional flavours such as capucine ice cream, fig leaves, etc. It's okay. Nothing to say. If the menu changes a little more often, I'll be back tomorrow.
A beautiful setting in Espelette with a vegetable garden right by the dining area. You watch as the chefs go into the garden and pick fresh vegetables and herbs for the use in the restaurant. The food is incredible, highly recommend. Great place to try local and fresh produce.
Excellent Home and impeccable service, palate and dishes are very well cooked and very well presented. The Basque ceramics are original...we loved...the new room overlooking the vegetable garden is superb...
