We have eaten here on more than one occasion and have always enjoyed the food and the service. THIS TIME WAS SPECIAL BECAUSE ONE OF OUR FRIENDS WAS HAVING HIS 70th BIRTHDAY. None of the other eight (8) people that arrived had never been at the CHOP STEAKHOUSE before. We had booked for eleven (11) but one of the ladies was too sick to come out for supper. We arrived a few minutes early and after some discussion about arranging the tables, this was done so our birthday guy could sit at the head of the table. We ordered dinner through skip the dishes a few nights ago and for a $50 steak dinner $46 7oz filet mignon $4 peppercorn sauce) this is what we received. I understand the steak was only 7oz but there was hardly any sides and not a lot of sauce for what it was worth. On top of the small portion, the steak was ordered as medium rare and came on the verge of blue rare. We’ve been eating at Chop for years and it seems to be going downhill and not worth the money.
We waited 1.5 hour for our meal. Our server said that the kitchen was doing a buffet I one of the conference rooms. Clearly the kitchen could not handle the workload. The food finally arrived and was not hot or very good. The server was pleasant and was apologetic and we felt badly for her. We have been to the south side Chops a few times and always enjoyed it. Not a place I would recommend, vey disappointing.
We were seated and it took 10 minutes for our drinks to be ordered. The drinks than didn't show up for another 20 minutes(30 mins total). We ended up walking tit he lounge to get a drink which the bar tender comped to us for the troubles we were facing. Our food came out before our drinks. Food was good but service was horrible. We came to celebrate our anniversary, and the food was not as impressive as I expected it to be. It was my second time at the restaurant, and my fiancé 's first. We ordered the crab cakes, a filet with Oscar topper, and a steak Oscar. The crab cakes were pretty mediocre, and the filet came out undercooked, so we had it cooked up. Overall, it was a decent experience, but it could have been better!
sever was very friendly and on top of our drinks. Overall food was tasty; favorite appy was the goat cheese dish and medium rare fillet was cooked to our liking. Manager came by and apologized for the lobster mac and cheese delay. Great place for a birthday celebration and look forward to our next visit.
Entered the Win Steak For A Year and a Trip to Belgium contest. For entering the contest I received a gift of 2 pints of Stella Artois and steak bites. The steak bites were delicious, highly recommend as an appetizer. Also ordered lunch combo and chop burger. Thank you Chop Steakhouse.
Service was terribly slow. Bartender didn't know how to make a simple vodka martini and the server could not explain why it was red ? The explanation was ridiculous . We were not asked if anyone had allergies that they should be aware of prior to ordering . Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We asked for the wine to be served with dinner but it came a third of the way through the main course. And, the coffee was cold when served. Everything else was wonderful — especially the noise level. We could hear the conversation of everyone at the table.
