I recently went to Martin's for dinner with a friend, whom highly recommended this restaurant. Whilst the location leaves much to be desired, once inside it felt like it was worlds away in a family restaurant in the Algarve. Packed tables and large family groups made conversation a bit of a challenge. The service was very good but the food was a disappointment. The food lacked flavour. We started with clams in a broth and grilled squid. It was just okay and then we shared bacalhau a bras. Shredded salted cod mixed with potato and scrambled eggs. I even thought the cod lacked flavour - it was not salty at all. The dessert was very good – Vanilla crème brule which was creamy and full of flavou...
Enjoy the food and forget about location, noise level or décor, this place has some of the BEST FOOD in Toronto. My wife had salmon and my plate was grouper. Portions are large and no scrimping on type and amount of vegetables with the meal. I can not say enough about the quality of the meals that we have eaten here.Suggest a reservation, this place gets packed on weekends, we have resorted to weeknight dinning but it still fills up quickly.Last resort is there take-out next door.
This restaurant reminded us of our trip to Portugal. It serves authentic Portuguese dishes starting with delicious free appetizers. There is a wide array of fish and meat dishes and our party enjoyed a combination of halibut, snapper and BBQ chicken. We ended with the yummiest of Portuguese custard tarts. The atmosphere is wonderful and the music was great. It was exceptionally busy with large parties of people celebrating a variety of occasions so the service was a bit slow.
There were ten of us when we arrived, and when we decided to leave we walked out feeling like 12. The food was great, about 3 minutes after our meals were placed on the table everyone was sampling everyone else's meals. Highly recommend "beef a'casa" 10 oz steak dinner , you might even have enough left for lunch the next day.The Cod fish dinner (various avalable) was mouth watering, also got to sample the Salmon amazing the COD fish or Salmon dinners availablet was delicious

Appetizers included the PETISCOS - Fresh Goat Cheese and Presunto and Cured Olives, GAMBAS GRELHADAS - Grilled Tiger Shrimp. The entrees were the LULAS GRELHADAS - Grilled Squid with Roasted Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables and the FILETE DE RÓBALO CHILENO - Grilled Chilean Sea Bass with Rapine, Chourico Risotto Topped with Peppers and Mango Salsa.This was the first time I tried grilled squid and really enjoyed it. Overall everything was very good and of high quality.
My family enjoys the food. The selection is good and the food is tasty and fresh. However I'm over restaurants that have huge television sets throughout the restaurant. I find them distracting and take away from experiencing a nice evening out. There are several television sets throughout the restaurant and when we there they were airing Portuguese programs. There is no volume however the visuals are extremely distracting and take away from the mood.
Food was OK. I had the salmon. It was a fair size. The shrimp appetizer was the best thing I had there. The calamari were OK but not great. This is the only restaurant I've ever gone to that did not give us water. I was dying of thirst when I left. Don't think I would go back.
We went for the first time as couple, then a few days later with friends. Plenty of choices for grilled seafood - Octopus was fantastic - great portions. Steaks looked great (next time.)! Calamari were among the best. Staff do great job

Yesterday I went to Martins for the first time and it was unbelievable! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! Highly recommend to anyone!
We were on the way to the airport and found this restaurant to have lunch. One of the best of the whole holiday! Next holiday to Portugal?
