I was at the small strip mall that Cockney Kings is in doing a few errands and decided it would be much easier to go in and get an order to go than go home and cook. This is one of the few places for real English fish and chips (the other is C-lovers). The restaurant itself is quite spacious or you can get your order to go. If your not a fan of fish they also have chicken strips and chips and their chicken strips are also very good, they have one of my favorite english side dishes, mushy peas, with malt vinegar and salt and pepper mush peas are very tasty. The fish portions are decent and they dont cook the fish till the batter is hard and you are chiseling it away to find the small portion...
The restaurant was very crowded when my sister and I arrived. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Even though the wait staff were very busy, our server still took the time to make us feel welcome and she did not rush us. The fish (halibut) was, as always, very tasty. I had a salad instead of chips, the vegetables were fresh and crisp. This is my go to place when I want fish & chips.
Monday to Wednesday are all you can eat days and your meal includes a soft drink. The cost is less than $12.00. It gets pretty busy. I've only had one slow service day but most of the time they are pretty good. The seating is simple and no fuss. It's a nice casual atmosphere. No problem with parking as they are located in a shopping plaza.
Thank you for the wonderful array of lovely fried food. Scruptios batter. Love all the fish and coldslaw good. Healthy portions. Great cod. Out of the goodness of their hearts they do the fish without batter. Like that option.
The fish and poutine was one of the best meals we had on our trip to Vancouver. We sat outside. Service was attentive and friendly. Reasonable price for the food. Would have returned if we were in that locale again.
Love the Cod and Chips. My step daughters love the poutine. The coleslaw is a nice touch, just the right amount for a mouthful of freshness.
I have been going here for more than 30 years and the quality has always been the best. Always fresh, good service and plenty to eat.
Halibut pieces are large, fresh, and lightly battered. Reasonably priced (given the rising cost of fish). Super service.
