We ordered a shrimp paella for three hoping for a real treat. What showed up was six large shrimp and a fair amount of cooked rice. No vegetables or other ingredients, no real flavor, just a super basic dish. Basic, that is, until the bill came over 75 euro for just the six shrimp and cooked rice. No kidding. I can not recommend this restaurant and would advise staying away. This is the only time in two weeks of traveling in France and Spain that I have felt totally taken advantage of. To add insult to injury my sons were still hungry so we stopped at a tapas bar for a few dishes on the way home.
You often hear about pairing of wine and food. At Cocotte Taberna, the sommelier made the perfect recommendation. I have had some great wines and great meals. This was the first time that the pairing made both the food and the wine better. We had the Chateaubriand with a Pago de Cirsus red. (I don't have the variety. It was magnificent. The waiter (who may have been the owner/manager was helpful, attentive without floating over your head. Don't be put off by the décor. The food and wines are excellent.
Nice place in Calle Estafeta downtown Pamplona, with great pintxos and cañas (beer , a nice atmosphere where you can enjoy with family and friends of typical downtown Pamplona atmosphere. Is totally recommended if you visit Pamplona, you should stop and enjoy this place :
