What in the world was I thinking? I've driven by this place many times the past two months since I've been down in the San Gabriel area visiting. I've noticed this place is often empty No Customers! But there's plenty of parking spaces too, so it's not like the restaurant is hard to access. That alone should tell you there's something seriously wrong with the place. During my last visit, I ordered bun rieu and felt that something was off. The flavor was almost there, but something was missing. After that meal, I suffered from stomach pains for about a week, and I’m fairly certain it was due to this restaurant. I hesitated to return until yesterday when I decided to give them another chance while dining with friends. They ordered the #1 dish, and I opted for bun bo hue this time. Unfortunately, I’m experiencing stomach cramps again today, and the flavor was not right once more. My friends seemed fine, but I suppose you can't really go wrong with a basic beef pho. My parents used to love coming here to get the broken rice with the 10 items. Cleanliness isn't the best here, but the food is decent. Not the best broken rice or pho I've ever had, but not a bad value and very local. I personally only get the com tam here to-go, and for the price, it's not a bad value. Flavor is decent and portion is good. Overall score: 3.5/5
We ordered the Vietnamese Broken Rice dish, which featured grilled beef and deep-fried ground shrimp wrapped in tofu skin. The meal was accompanied by a side soup. I highly recommend this dish, especially for those who enjoy beef and veal. The portions are generous and very satisfying, especially for the price.
I was really disappointed with the pho. The noodles were stuck together and had a paste-like consistency. The soup tasted like it was straight out of a can. I definitely won’t be returning.
Things are pretty good here I'm pretty satisfied but the prices have grown over the years so beware other than that everything's fine pretty good typical place for broken Rice
This is a fantastic cozy spot to dine and unwind. So far, the food has been delicious. I've tried the pho and the pork chops, and both were great.
