Great little place where in the know locals chow down on hearty menus del dia at midday! You will absolutely not leave here hungry. Sure the food us a tad high on the salty scale but hey this is Colombia ... where they like their coffee strong their food 10 of 10 salty on the Richter Scale! Great prices here ... lunch comes with a filling soup a meal in itself ... main course with meat, patacones, yucca, salad or a really interesting sweet coconut rice, plus a fruit drink a sweet for dessert ... tics all the 3 b boxes ... bueno ... bonito barato! Plus ... almost forgot ... the riverside view is pure awesomeness!
I have eaten a lot of seafood on this tour of Colombia 's Caribbean coastal region, so it was unusual to find a meatcentric restaurant. Turns out that Mompox is in a big cattle region. Anyway, I had a tasty ground beef carne molido that was nicely seasoned and came with coco rice, salad, fried plantain patacones and a delicious local fruit juice. The person next to me had a beautiful piece of whole fried fish and another companion had the posta negra, a beef dish that comes with a delicious sauce. Everyone declared everything very tasty.
Food was delicious and fairly prompt. They didn't have a few things on the menu (like the highly recommended carne desmechada) but I had the posta and it was actually really tasty! The waiter did try and tell my friend they had no small fish left, until she persisted, and suddenly there was...so not ideal bur it was delicious all the same! Nice and cool next the river with the breeze and lots of fans!
This place is perfect for lunch. With the Mompos heat, siitting right by the river and tons of fans everywhere helped relax and enjoy the great food and views. I recommend Carne desmechada (shredded beef) , pescado frito (fried fish) arroz coco (coconut rice), jugos de fruit (fresh fruit juices). The food is full of flavor and the service is great. Now this place was bomb....hands down this place is very good....the food location .....keep in mind this place open from 12pm to 5pm....and that is it.. This place was so good I had two plates yes two.....had the shredded beef and the local fried fish....wow! Rice was also amazing....its a must!
Busy restaurant with a great location on the river, serves fish other typical colombian dishes. I had fried fish, that was over-fried for my liking. The majority of our group (8 people) enjoyed their food. Service was slow, but ok. Pretty Good value for money.
They preparare a very well done friend fish (mojarra) it comes with a great fish soup and coconut rice. The local duck is nicely prepared, taste and tender. Prices are quite good. Fully recommended to taste local cuisine.
