We have been coming here for years and we love this place. They recently changed ownership on September 15th. We met the new owner Lon, and he was super nice. He has been in the restaurant industry since he was 13 years old, for over 40 years. He was the owner of a few restaurants as well. Yes he did make some changes, but they were good changes. Instead of frozen sliders, he buys fresh sliders 5 days a week. They are now 2 oz instead of 1. They taste really fresh and delicious. Stellar sliders, solid shakes, and chill atmosphere I ordered a double-cheeseburger slider and vanilla shake. The Slider: the bun is not cakey but rather a soft sponge-type bread that absorbs the juice of the burger well. This leaves a great meat-to-bun ratio, and the cheese melt is glorious, covering every part of the patty. I witnessed the maestro on the grill as he made my sliders, and he used the tried and true pinch and pull method of lifting the patty off the grill. Comet Burgers is one of my favorite diners to go to in Royal Oak. I really like the 80's diner vibe in the atmosphere and reinforced with the long bar that stretches from one end of the restaurant to the other. My order included the Jalapeño Peppers along with the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I have a special type of weakness for deep fired jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese. This is a great little hole in the wall burger joint! They make the best sliders I have had in a long time and the seasoned waffle fries were both delicious! The way we found this place was looking for a quick bite to eat before going to a comedy show. It was a Friday night with less than a half-hour to showtime. We were greeted right away got a seat at the bar and ordered within minutes. I would recommend this place for good food with quick service!
Stopped in before a show. This is very cool retro restaurant. They have awesome milkshakes, great sliders and fries. They also serve a good variety of sandwiches. They offer a number of different types of fries. Our food was served up fast and there was nothing left once we were done (it was good). They don't have tables that seat more than a few people, so we ate at the counter. If you are in the area, stop in.
One of the best chicken cheese stake I had. Perfect portion of chicken and bread. I felt that onion and pepper was bit less. It tasted fresh. I also loved their Oreo desert. Food was priced right and service was friendly and prompt. I would recommend this for cheese steak.
