We have not been out for a meal since last Christmas due to illness and being in lockdown because of Covid 19. Last night Sunday we thought it was safe to venture out, so we walked to our local hotel The Commercial...Hotel in Morpeth. But unfortunately we were let down. Firstly upon arriving we went to sign in BUT were unable to do so as there was a sign stating RAN OUT OF PAPER USE YOUR PHONE! Well I am sorry but not everyone has a mobile phone or the Covid App. We are elderly with health issues and have used the paper sign in method on the few occasions we have had to go out for appointments. The bar staff are exceptional, the amazing female bar staff remembered our drink order and went out of her way to be friendly. Frankly, I would only come back because of her service. I ordered a hot and cold seafood plate which was very ordinary....The one piece of toasted sourdough was charcoaled which was not consumed. Didn’t enjoy the meal as it was not half cold and half hot as advised. Mostly deep fried.
We walked Swan Street last Sunday looking for somewhere to have lunch and the Pub was the only place that had vacant table for 5. They were very busy and we were told 1/2 hr wait. We initially sat outside but very dark clouds so...moved inside (was very hot inside). Staff were very pleasant had to go and ask for table floor to be cleaned (they were busy) . Food was fine. Covid free area.
quaint pub beautiful outdoor seating places as well as inside staff friendly nice selection to be on and nice price. not too hungry, so just grabbed the stock plate. big mistake $30 for some very tasteless deep fried pieces that suspect was largely straight out. a box. will be back, but will also spend a little more time on menu options.
we had lunch here on Sunday of the two-year-old day morpeth in november. I had a table pre-booked when I thought it could be done. I can't say enough about how organized and under control the Bistro staff were. as expected, there was quite. a wait for our lunch, but all were happy and I really enjoyed my steak sandwich.
we celebrated our 25-year anniversary wat the commercial. joy and the team could not have been more helpful. nothing was too much annoyed and each one of our guests commented on how good it was eating. I can't talk too much about everyone. I highly recommend them. thanks joy and your wonderful team.
Stayed in Morpeth for 2 nights at the Bronte Boutique Hotel and the Commercial Hotel was 2 minutes walk away. Very friendly staff, basic Pub Grub done very well. Suggest you make a reservation, we went Tuesday night and the place was rocking. If you're...in Morpeth see for yourself.
a pleasant surprise for a lunch break on the way to the hunter valley. my meal was the pork carving with verges, maische and gravy (see photo). good covered seats at the back. a good option in the city.
Good honest pub food. dining area is nice. need to book when busy. cant complain. Brushetta is just like its from an Italian Restraunt. Sharing platters good value and quality
