Absolutely stunning hotel . Sensitively converted from the old convent. Rooms were everything you would expect from a five star hotel. Service was also exemplary. Only one problem we were unable to eat in their restaurants as they were full, a problem as this is in an isolated location . We ended up having a snack in the bar, with several others who couldn’t be accommodated. so if coming ,book your table with the hotel. Don’t miss the complimentary wine tasting, the sommelier was very knowledgeable and the wines tasted were sensibly priced with no attempt to sell them) That said this is the second Pousada I have stayed at and I don’t think I would now stay at any other hotel group in Portuga...
This was one of our favourite stops on our two-week vacation in Portugal. Everything about our stay felt luxurious. Our room over-looking the vineyard was beautifully decorated, with high end finishes. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets were so soft and silky, and the breakfast was the best we had in Portugal. It was a lovely property to wander around. We didn’t get the chance to use the outdoor or indoor pools, but they looked really nice. And the gardens surrounding the property and the chapel inside were gorgeous. We stayed in many nice places on our holiday, but it’s this Convent that we keep telling our friends about. My only regret about our visit is that we didn’t stay longer.
Pros. 1. Relatively affordable 2. 5 star hotel 3. Beautiful garden 4. Afternoon wine testing and live music are included. Cons. 1. Remote from Évora town 2. The same breakfast menu everyday. 3. Not many kinds of breakfast foods 4. There was an issue in the room and they did not resolve it over 24 hours even if I requested to fix it more than five times. 5. The wall is thin. You can hear the next room. 6. The gym is very tiny. Service: 5
Incredible experience. Nothing negative to say about our stay and this hotel. More than just a hotel it’s a once in a life time experience. Exquisite 5 star hotel near the modest sized town of Evora on extensive acreage. It was actually a monastery, despite the name. A large, ornate church (more like a cathedral) is part of the main building. Service: 4
