I visited this restaurant for the second time and unfortunately, there has been no improvement since my first visit. The cafe was completely empty when we arrived and our order was placed with approximately 5 staff members present. The tea for two was served in the smallest cups I have ever seen, accompanied by a small teapot meant for one person. After a six-minute wait, my sausage sandwich was brought out. It wasn't until my wife inquired about her toasted teacake that we realized it had been forgotten by the toaster. Instead of making a fresh one, the cold teacake was brought out. We were staying fairly local on holiday and wanted a day out somewhere where it would be convenient for my gluten intolerant husband and child. Found this place online and decided we’d give it a go, we were all so pleased! My husband said the gf fish and chips was probably the best he’s ever had (he’s tried a lot! My son was happy to have a gf sandwich and me not having to worry about gluten went for the burger which was absolutely incredible! Thank you so much Cottage Kitchen!
We have just had a delicious family lunch with our 3 young kids. The quality of all our meals was faultless. My husband is also gluten intolerant so he was delighted to have so many options to choose from. He had his first proper battered fish and chips in years! It didn’t disappoint. The service was also brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. I’d highly recommend a visit to this lovely Kendal cafe.
We always come to this restaurant when we shop in Kendal. It's rare to find a cafe that offers gluten-free savory dishes, but this place does and they do it exceptionally well. The pastries, including quiches and pies, are delicious and all made in-house. The service is friendly and there is seating available both indoors and outdoors.

This restaurant is locally owned and uses locally sourced ingredients to create delicious food. The staff was very kind and accommodating to our cranky children. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere all a rating of 5 out of 5.
We called in for a breakfast while on holiday and we were welcomed in. The staff are all really lovely, and the service was excellent. Food is all freshly made/cooked and we loved it there.
