our dinner here was just fabulous! we brought our 14-month son with us, and let us sit for one because there was any mixture that seemed to serve our table. when our waiter recognized the mistake, he made himself completely that he had the rest of the evening with his service. our dishes quickly came out, with our sons mac n cheese come in record time right after our order so that he could start eating. it is always a great help if we can feed it first. it makes the whole meal smoother. the beer and the more likely we had were great and the meal was even better. our waiter has spoken the Bao-Buns correctly and so my man tried them. he was really good. This restaurant looked like an excellent option to order in for a Saturday meal. The website clearly indicates that take out is an option. When we phoned at approx. 5:30pm to order a meal (after careful planning and choices were made for 5 people) we were...excited to place out order. When trying to order we were told the kitchen is closed and no orders will be taken no other explanation. I can understand the multiple reasons why they could not take our order but my review is to share perspective on how that message was delivered. We were not told why or sorry for inconvenience. We made a reservation ages in advance and when we arrived were given a spot under an air conditioner...they were aware of how unbearable it was because they offered us blankets? We obviously left, not sitting under a shared restaurant blanket to eat, who offers...this I do not know! This year thought we’d try again, food was mediocre if that, I could get much better at 5 places with in a km of home. Won’t be back.
This is our second time dining at The County Canteen, the first time being a few years ago. We were equally as pleased with our experience. We visited on a beautiful Friday night and they were quick to seat us nearby where the live music...would be. Food and live music were amazing! Went for lunch and had nachos and poutine with real Quebec curd. The nachos were perfect. Most times you go into a restaurant and order nachos and lack of cheese, veggies etc. This nacho plate was perfect. The poutine had real Quebec curd, it really...did and the gravy was right. Good local beer as well. We will be returning. Cheers.
at our last night in picton we asked ourselves where we could go to dinner. we had enjoyed some other places during the week, but decided to try the county canteen and loved it. great small place with good service, a comfortable terrace and...a really good burger.
had an amazing time here we arrived late in picton and it was the only open place with a patioit also happened to be the karaoke championships.
