My family has been loyal customers of this fish and chip shop for many years, and it has always met our expectations. However, I was surprised to learn that it had changed ownership when I tried my meal tonight. The quality was noticeably different. The fish batter was slimy, the fish itself was sparse and lacked its usual freshness, and the chips had a strange aftertaste that I had never encountered before. It's disappointing to see the previous owners' reputation being tarnished in this manner. Unfortunately, I will have to find a new place to get my fish and chips from now on.
I had not visited this fish and chip shop in two years since it changed ownership. The new owners were speaking in their own language while handling the food, they did not wear hair nets, the chip oil had a bad smell, and there were hairs on the sausage and batter. When I requested a refund, they insisted on giving me a fresh order instead. Additionally, when I mentioned my concerns in front of other customers, they shushed me and gave me evil stares. Overall, I had a disrespectful experience and would not recommend visiting this fish and chip shop.
If I could have given this review 0 I would have. The food was disgusting, there is no other word for it. The quality was so poor, the battered sausages were soft and soggy, the chips tasted of old oil and we have both ended up with severely upset tummy’s within half an hour of eating the food. We have been going to County Fayre for many many years and I can’t believe these new owners have destroyed the reputation that had been built up. We will NEVER go back.
As well as excellent food cooked by Andy and the team the shop is spotlessly clean, our pre order is always ready on time and served with a smile they remember our names so that makes for excellent customer service and they all like to have a bit of banter, hardly found these days would highly recommend, we collect take away for elderly parents who also enjoy the pensioners fish and chips available only at lunch time. I visited tonight my first time since new owners , I was not very impressed with the chips or the sausage in batter .The chips tasted like they had been reheated making them harder to eat (tough ,the sausage was not as nice as I am used to .I still miss the cheery HELLO from the old owner .
I haven't been to this restaurant in a while, even though it has new ownership. I ordered the haddock and chips, and the chips were freshly cooked with a crisp exterior and fluffy interior. The fish was tasty with a deliciously crisp batter.
Usually a regular before football matches I went back today for the first time since March and was greeted like a long lost friend. The welcome is always friendly and the fish and chips the best anywhere. Huge portions and always delicious

Have been using county fayre for the last 15 years, there quality has not fallen, tried other shops that the family use but not up to county fayre standard. Well worth the drive.
