Sadly Second Time Disappointment. This is the second takeaway that we have had over the last couple of months and on both occasions have been very disappointed with it. While the battered fish was very nice the breaded fish was extremely overcooked almost bordering...on burnt. Reheated?? This was the same issue on the previous occasion. It is impossible to see what the staff are putting in the boxes and so it’s only when we get home do we see what the staff must have very clearly seen as they boxed it up which simply isn’t good enough that they think it’s ok to send out product like this. Future visits will be to another fish chip shop!
During the recent power cuts I was looking forward to a hot fish supper. When I got home having travelled with the the food in my usual insulated box, the fish was lukewarm and the chips were almost cold. This had never happened before so...the food was less that hot when served in the chip shop. I complained and the response was to point the blame at me and the business wouldn’t accept responsibility. Sometimes a business needs to understand that the customer is right, and understand that they could be wrong in some instances.
Unpretentious, great food … and fun. We went for Sunday lunch: Prawn cocktail to start – tasty and refreshing, it made us wonder why it has gone out of fashion! A sharing “platter” of delicious beef and pork (in fact the platter is a three-tiered...server with meat on the bottom plate, greens on the next and potatoes and Yorkshire puds on the top). It may be a gimmick, but it made us smile! … and ice cream for pudding. Sometimes the simple things in life just can’t be beaten!
We went for Sunday dinner at The Cowshed. It is genuinely the best roast beef I have ever had. You have to go and try it to see for yourself! Meat is melt in your mouth, incredibly tasty, with lovely trimmings too. We had our...three children with us and they were catered for with small portions of the roast dinner also. The waiters were attentive and very professional! We will definitely be back. Excellent value for money.

Great food in a great setting with excellent service. Steak and black pudding pies, Chick and mushroom stroganoff and the panacotta and the ice cream all spot on and served with friendly efficiency. Only tiny thing that left an odd taste in our mouths was...the foul smell in the car park which I did notice last time too...either someone's septic needs tweaking or a bears in your woods. Thank-you for a lovely meal.
It's a few years since we were here and high standards have been maintained. We had a table with uninterrupted views over fields to the hills beyond. Staff were attentive without being in-your-face. There was a varied selection comprising both traditional and innovative. We all...had different things and everyone was delighted with their choices
My friend and I invited our friends for lunch here . Excellent food, fabulous setting and great service. Would definitely recommend and will be back. I had fish n' chips batter was light and not greasy. Portions were enormous. Nice service, with smile
We have always gone past the Cowshed Restaurant and decided to pop in We hadn’t booked but the staff gave us a lovely table and the food was excellent, a very nice and cosy with lovely staff Highly recommend and will be back soon

First time at the cowshed takeaway and unfortunately it will be my last. The food tastes of stale cooking oil. I still have the horrible aftertaste two hours later. A waste of for a fish supper.
Visited with my sister and mum for her birthday. Tasty food, attentive service and nice surroundings. Enjoyable visit had.
