It's always great in the summer to find a restaurant with dog friendly patio or sidewalk tables, especially when they don't say..."your dog has to sit outside the fence (on the pavement in the sun) when it is a temporary set up for the brief summer months on a sidewalk.The Cow and the Sow on the main street a block up from the Trent Severn locks fit the bill with picnic tables beside the restaurant in the shade at 1:30 pm. They have umbrellas for when they're in the sun and the dog settled down under the table with his traveling bowl of water.I had the Reuben on marbled rye with a Belgium wheat draft beer and my wife ordered the burger with peameal bacon. Both meals came with the best fries...
I've been coming here off and on for many years. Used to really enjoy it in the early years but its gone down hill. Don't think the management cares like it once did, many things in disrepair. Used to have a DJ upstairs that had the place rocking Friday and Sat nights in the summer but that ended. They once had 2 pool tables upstairs its now down to one with 1/2 the balls missing and its jammed in a corner.Food is fair, just overall a faded jewel. This place could really use a management change and someone to love her again. It does have lots of potential.Anyway, just my personal opinion.
This is one of my favourite places to eat, always has been. I have been coming here since they first opened when I was just a kid. Food is still great but beware they recently renovated and changed the menu up a bit. A little upset that they removed some of my favourite menu items. No more battered mushrooms, chicken burger or shrimp souvlaki. The interior isn't the same cozy feel anymore either. Things change, I understand the reno but I dislike the menu re-do. Hope they take some opinions into consideration! Still enjoy coming here.
Busy day in Fenelon Falls so I stopped into Cow and Sow to have a quick Rickards Red. The special(Canadian BLT) looked good, so I made it a lunch break too. The sandwich was delicious, the service prompt and the french fries too many to consume. This place has been recently painted and spiffed up. I love an open kitchen, keeps everyone on their toes. Great place for lunch or supper. My husband has their daily specials (evenings) memorized! I'm very fond of the fish and chips for lunch on Fridays. Highly recommended. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Just stopped in for lunch and had some good food but the worst service we have had in a long time. The meal took forever to come and other people who came in after us were getting their meals before us. Every time we needed something or wanted to find our server she was busy socializing with 3 guys at the bar, i guess that explains everything.
Had the one piece fish and chips dinner. Cannot imagine trying to eat the two piece! The batter on the generous piece of fish was thick, crispy and tasty. The tartar sauce is homemade and yummy. Fries are done the way fries should be. I'm getting hungry just remembering how tasty this meal was.
This is a go to for our family! We feel like family and we always have fabulous meals and service. The ribs and wings and awesome! I find the pizza/ panzo a hidden gem! When you're hungry late, they're normally the only game in town with an open sign shining.
