My husband and I stopped in for an early (11:00 a.m. lunch on a cold January day. We ordered vegetable soup to start and it was excellent: pureed veg. with buttery croutons and a small side dish of sour cream to stir in. My husband's pot au feu (slow cooked beef was a bit disappointing in that the beef was somewhat tough. However, we have had several similar beef (pot au feu bourguignon dishes in France over the past couple of months and have found all to have a similar texture perhaps it is simply the way it is done here? Road weary and exhausted from an overnight flight we made our way to Barbizon, a lovely town outside of Paris. Hungry and ready for something delicious, we both ordered savory galettes and could have not been more pleased. A fresh green salad accompanied beautiful galettes filled with all sorts of goodies. Add a refreshing glass of wine and it was a delicious unfussy meal. Also, very friendly and accommodating wait staff made for a lovely evening. A special thanks to Elodie and Corentim for a warm welcome and excellent service.
We stayed in Barbizon for a week and went to Creperie Barjole 3x. Once for late afternoon ice cream, Monday night dinner and Friday lunch, which was particularly busy and I'm glad I had a reservation. Nice terrace, good vibe had a high chair and children's menu, which was much appreciated. Good crepes and the burger was good too! Friendly service. Would definitely return.
Nice terrace, good for a fast lunch. Big salads, traditional and modern crepes. Nice staff. Barbizon is a nice village for a visit, although there is not much to do.
