This review is for Vela Italian Tavern. Cru Cellars was experiencing flooding and reached out to let me know they couldn’t serve food and couldn’t host our reservation, but they had made us a reservation at their sister restaurant, Vela. I wrote that it was my best friends birthday, and Cru Cellars assured me they let Vela know as well. Very disappointed on my mom 's night out- which doesn 't get to happen very often. We were in Friday evening and it wasn 't very busy- took over 10 minutes before we were even greeted. Our wine flights were great and so was the cheeseboard. Our cheese curds were just fried breading- we sent more than half back without our waitress even noticing. We were enjoying our time together despite the service being mediocre. I think the most upsetting was another employee(male) turning up the music so loud it was awful to ask us to leave. Fun little place with great ambience, perfect for wine lovers. We have been there multiple times but this visit was a little disappointing. They were out of my favorite Sangiovese wine, the first waitress didn’t put in my order so I waited a while without it until the second waitress checked and ended up crediting my bill. The flatbread had way too much balsamic, but thankfully my carbonara was still amazing. Will go back, they handled the problems well and my food was still on point.
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent, but the noise level because of the music made conversation very difficult even sitting across the table from one person. And the music selection was obnoxious.

The restaurant has changed for the worse, with no improvement in the food despite a new menu. Limited choices and unhelpful staff. It's disappointing to see how much it has declined over the years.
Cru is one of my favorite places to get dinner and try some fun wines. The food is always delicious and the service superb. I always bring out of town friends here when they visit.
Love Cru Cellars! Food was good. Service was off tonight and really took away from our experience this time. Hoping it was just an off day. We will still be back.
Food was terrible. Unfortunately had thought would be more than just gold wine.
