This is a pleasant hut on the Blackcomb side, which seems to specialise in waffles. The hut is crowded with lots of tables packed in, without a huge amount of space between the tables. There's reasonable turnover so after a short wait, you'll usually get a seat, but it was impossible for us to find a table for 6, so we had to split up. The children loved the waffles. The soup was decent. Surprised not to find mulled wine etc. The toilets were well maintained. Service was variable, with some of the staff being extremely friendly, others were downright rude.
My daughter recenlty found out she is celiac, and thought she'd never eat a waffle at teh Crystal Hut again. We went in with friends, and she was planning on having a drink, when she realized they had gluten free waffles. Being celiac she knows that is not suffieint if there is cross contamination, or it's cooked on the same equipment as the regular waffles. They said they cook them separately and prepare it separately so she is still able to enjoy Crystal Hut waffles. And they were delicious (and expensive as is all on mountain food at Whistler).
If you ever find yourself on Whistler Blackcomb, you must visit this restaurant! They serve the most delicious waffles I have ever tasted. Normally I only review chicken nuggets, but this place is exceptional. They top your waffle with all kinds of delicious toppings. It's the perfect way to start your morning before hitting the slopes. Just a heads up, it can get crowded around lunchtime, so try to arrive a bit earlier. The waffles are truly amazing. They deserve five stars, but since they don't serve nuggets, I opted for the next best thing.
If you don't do anything else have a waffle. Go early before the line-up. Just something about the hut - - so cozy, so friendly, - - a special place you can dream about for years to come. - - - or have nightmares that the line was so long they ran out of waffles - - - typical recurring nightmare I had when I missed out. Had to have counselling for PTSD (Post Traumatic Skiing Disorder). The only treatment was to go back to the hut early and get served. Staff were awesome!!!!! One serving does nicely for two old guys. Amazing Waffles! I visited this place on a spring weekend and was impressed. It seems they only open on weekends during the spring season, but it was well worth the wait. I tried their waffles loaded with toppings like strawberries, blueberries, maple syrup, chocolate chips, and whipped cream, and they were delicious. The waffles were light and crunchy, even with all the toppings. It's a great spot to visit after a morning of riding. I will definitely be returning before the end of my Whistler vacation.
While skiing Blackcomb mountain I stopped at this tiny log cabin perched at almost 6000 feet overlooking the valley below. I had the turkey chili which uniquely included a scoop of mashed potatoes and a nice hunk of crusty bread. Perfect quick ski break with a view, weather permitting you can choose to sit at a picnic table on the big deck outside.
The waffles at the crystal hut never disappoint. The staff are great too. It can be hard getting a seat inside around 10.30 but it is worth the squeeze in. On a sunny day sitting outside is beautiful. Make sure you go here if you are skiing blackcomb.
That is a very nice hut with a perfect service. At noon it's a very crowded place but it's worth to wait. The menu is not that huge but the meals are very delicious. You have to taste the chili or the soup. Great!Go for it! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Wir haben uns Waffen und Chilli geteilt und es hat super geschmeckt. Kartoffelpüree im Chilli war ungewöhnlich aber Mega lecker.
