This place used to be fantastic, but now it's just average. To be clear, I don't eat sushi. I walked in and was the only customer, so I approached the counter to avoid taking up a table. However, I was rudely informed that the counter was reserved. Fine, I'll take a table for four instead. My son texted me his to-go order, but he made a small mistake—he typically orders crispy spicy tuna but accidentally wrote crispy RICE spicy tuna. When I tried to place the order as he texted it, the same woman practically shouted at me, insisting that there was no such thing. I mentioned I'd get back to her since it was a takeout order anyway. Excellent place for sushi. Hole in the wall in Whittier area. We are lucky to live 5 min away. Staff and friendly and attentive. I believe the chef owns the business. We generally order shrimp dumplings, chili edamame, rainbow role, snow crab, king crab (when they have it), ceviche, eel, and tea. Food is delish. We only have sushi from 2 places in LA/OC. This is one of them. The other is in Gardena. Food always on point and fresh! A little pricey, but good quality. Great job to the staff who get extremely busy during dinner.
Dakara Sushi is a great hole in the wall restaurant! Although I've only had their Chicken teriyaki and tempura combo, my bf and daughter who order sushi, they love eating here too. I live almost 30 minutes away from Dakara and even with the high gas prices, I wouldn't hesitate the chance to eat there. The clientele there seems to be a lot of local people and it's always crowded. It' seems to be a family run business with the same attentive servers. If you're in the area, this is a definite place to try.
We love Dakara Sushi because the owners serve the best sushi in town. We want to express our support to Jason, Saori and whole Enomoto family in this challenging time. Maya Enomoto Family, I watched an NHK special on a renown neurosurgeon Tanikawa, Rokuya practicing in Sapporo Hokkaido. He helps everyone who comes to him, and has operated over 5000 extremely difficult surgeries with 0 relapse. He's known as The Last Samurai of the Far North. It's good to know of him in case you need another option. He also goes to Yokohama once a month. The video is Informative and fascinating to watch. What a fantastic restaurant! My wife and I love to order the spicy tuna rolls, crunch rolls, and California rolls. The atmosphere is wonderful, and there's always a positive vibe. I sincerely hope you’re all doing well and that you can reopen soon. God bless!
Absolutely delicious! The sushi here is fantastic, and the teriyaki chicken is equally impressive. Every visit has been a great experience. The only downside is their unusual hours, so be sure to call ahead before you go, as they might be closed for the day.
