I gave this restaurant two chances to impress me, trying four of their signature dishes: the Falafel plate, Egypt's Mostunction, Kairo Kofta, saucy butter chickpeas, and the Manakeesh/Cataar appetizer. Unfortunately, the falafels were too dry, and the other signature dishes felt somewhat bland and lacked flavor. There were also many fillers, which made the main components feel insufficient. The za’atar was the only dish that had a good taste, but the portion was very small for the price, making it an expensive option to try and fill up on. We were so happy to have found all-vegan Dar Nabati, in Oakville! The space is cute and nicely decorated. There is a fridge to pick up some vegan grocery items too. Our favourites were the vegan fried egg (HOW did they make this?! which was alarmingly authentic and truly delicious, and the cinnamon buns. Bonus points that the owner supports charitable organizations such as Black Youth Helpline! (We ate here in 2019, and I'm late posting this review!
Hi, This is my first review on Happy Cow. This restaurant is amazing. Cleanliness, food, menu options, portions, pricing, and staff! I love this restaurant. Everybody I introduce loves this restaurant. I read some of the negative reviews and I cannot agree. My experiences have only been amazing. I wish this restaurant only continued success! For appetizers, my non-vegan mother and I ordered the Caulipower bites with harissa, a grilled halloumi sandwich, and the fabulous falafel plate, along with mint lemonade. Very delightful experience! We tried their signature dishes: Mama's Shawarma Plate and Streets of Cairo Kofta Kebabs, both of which were excellent. We definitely plan to return to try more dishes!
The baba's shawarma was really tasty. Try the sugarless chocolate chip cookies. Very addicting.... Can't wait to go back and try another dish and stock up on those cookies.
Wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place more often. Everything I have tried has been delicious, although a little on the pricey side.
