Absolutely love DC Vegan. I've been here for an event, and I've had an offsite event catered from here, and both times the service really went above and beyond. When I was there, it was for a small event, and not only were the staff great about accommodating and being patient with my group, but when we asked them to reduce the volume of the music so we could have our event discussion, they immediately complied. For the catering event, I asked if I could do a Monday pickup (since it was a Monday event) and not only did they agree, in spite of being closed on Mondays, but i was literally the only catering order they even had that day, so they opened just for me, which is an unreal level of res...
The atmosphere is amazing at this restaurant. I have visited a few times and really enjoy the vibe. The cocktails are fantastic! However, there were a few issues that affected my experience. On a couple of occasions, the bartender seemed irritated when we asked to slowly open one of the Smokey cocktails for a picture, which was disappointing. We had reserved a window seat but did not get it, and the host did not acknowledge the situation. The main reason for my lower rating is that the food advertised as gluten-free does not seem to be gluten-free, or perhaps it is not prepared in a dedicated gluten-free space. I have been wanting to visit this restaurant in DC for a while now and we finally made it! The construction in the area made it a bit hard to find, but the interior decor was laid back and clean. We were seated promptly and had to order at the counter, where they had a small menu of cheeses, alcohol beverages, wine, and bakery items. I ordered the Chick'n Parm with a side salad, which was crispy and flavorful. I also enjoyed a Pomegranate flavored Sparkling Water which was sweet and tasty. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy, and the staff was friendly. I give it 4 stars because I expected table service for dine-in. The service at this restaurant was satisfactory, but the quality of the food was somewhat lacking. It seems misleading to label oneself as a DC vegan establishment when the dishes offered are typical of what can be found in most major cities in America today. The prices were high, as anticipated, but it was disappointing to see such basic vegan ingredients like vegetables, grains, and gluten being sold at a premium. I visited this restaurant for my birthday and was immediately impressed by the ambiance. The server greeted me with a big smile and when I mentioned it was my birthday, she made sure I had the best seat in the restaurant. It was my first time there, so I asked for help with choosing a drink and ended up trying almost all of the cocktails. The food was delicious and my server, Ana, was amazing. She was the best server I have ever had and I will definitely be returning just so Ana can be my server again!
This place is great! The food is delicious, the service is fast and friendly. AND THEY HAVE VEGAN WINES AND DESSERTS! Please excuse the shouting text, but I love this place. Makes me want to move onto P Street in Dupont Circle. Music is chill, seats are comfortable and I didn't mind the smudge stick out front. Gives DC Vegan a neo-hippie vibe. The Upstate Beans Greens was flavorful and the Chick'n Parm salad was crisp and filling. Five stars!
Brunchin today for the first time was a treat! Isaiah our server was so sweet and excellent! I had an amazing breakfast bowl and my husband had the sausage and cheese frittata. We shared the most delightful French toast too. Everything was delicious. This is a small quaint place so you definitely need to make reservations. You won't regret it. Might I say that my husband isn't vegan, but left his plate clean.
The service was friendly and the food was excellent, however, I would recommend bringing bug spray if you choose to sit outside. I met a friend for dinner a few weeks ago and we enjoyed mocktails, cacio e pepe, and chick'n piccata, all of which were delicious (and I'm not even vegan!). I was so excited to find DC Vegan. They have a wide selection of delicious food bursting with flavor. Sierra, who helped me at the counter, was friendly and knowledgeable. The service was excellent. I dined in for dinner and the meal was reasonably priced at $10–20 per person. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere all a rating of 5 out of 5.
