This restaurant was recommended to me while on vacation by the lovely lady at a VA Beach sneakers store. DeRican had the best food I've seriously ever tasted in my life. Hands down. Everything was AMAZING. I had never had Puerto Rican food before and after eating at this restaurant I found myself searching online in my hotel room for any possible way to get Puerto Rican food back home. It made THAT much of an impression on me! The prices were also amazing considering the portions are HUGE! My dinner turned into two more lunches! The service was also excellent. Obviously we had no clue what we were ordering and the server was very nice about helping us. There was also a noticeable Puerto Rica...
Too bad we discovered that place our last night. The food is very delicious. Very good customer service, the only reason I am giving 4 stars is because it was very hot in there, it was very hot, the lady who was serving us (a skinny lady) was very attentive and got us a fan. The beers at their point, very cold. Delicious pina coladas. The Puerto Rican flag was very good, everything was well seasoned. The chicken chicharron with sweet plantains according to my hubby was good too. When I return to Virginia Beach I already know where to eat deliciously.
I was excited to discover a Puerto Rican restaurant at the beach. Being Puerto Rican myself, I miss having Puerto Rican food since there isn't any around me in Maryland. My husband and I shared the Bandeja Boricua, but unfortunately, they were out of the pork skin, which I was really looking forward to. They kindly offered to substitute with chicharrón de pollo instead. This ended up being my husband's favorite meal of our week in Virginia Beach. I also enjoyed a kola champagne, which was a nice touch.
Was there on a Sunday at about 1230 for lunch.. Very impressive interior... this place is big and nicely set up.. plus back patio and Rooftop spaces for busier nights Sat/Sun). And the food was great: Ceviche, Snapper,, and Asopao de Pollo were all awesome ! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Good food all around. The Camarones al Ajillo was my favorite. The moon mofongo was decent. The apps were tasty as well. The service was great! Nicely decorated and gave the feel of being on La Isla del Encanto.
I had no idea what I was ordering since it was all unfamiliar food to me, but I'm glad I tried it! It was definitely worth it, and I will certainly return when we're back in Virginia Beach.
Great service , good food and awesome drinks “mojitos “. I get this place sometimes is slow to sit you down when it’s packed , but it’s worth it !
