We were staying near Ballaster and when looking for things to do the Deeside Deli was recommended and it didn 't disappoint! We called for meal supplies whilst my Husband chose accompaniments for our venison steaks (purchased from HM Sheridan 's) I was entrusted with getting the cheeses.......not the best idea as so much to choose from, had a little taste too and settled on three blocks (Lochnagar, Elderflower Chedder Black Bomber) all very delicious wishes we had got more. Highly recommend a visit so much stock choice.
Looking at all the local cheeses (some locally -made) and cold meats, it's always a difficult, but pleasant, decision here. Can thoroughly recommend the home-made quiches and there's a great selection of fruit, veg, speciality biscuits and herbs. Excellent service and all current Covid precautions are followed, including one-at-a-time entry to the shop, which makes life very easy and safe.
I visited this restaurant to pick up some items for a tapas dinner. Due to Covid restrictions, only one customer was allowed in the shop at a time, but the staff were very attentive and didn't rush me. They had a great selection of cheese and I could have spent a long time browsing both the deli counter and the shelves, but other customers were waiting patiently for their turn.
We walked into the village every day for lunch. My favorite was the ham and brie, but my husband had a different sandwich each day. The food was fresh and delicious and I will miss the desserts! Everyone who works there is kind and friendly the ladies have earned our highest recommendation!

This is a shop i use weekly. The range of fruit,vegetables and cheeses are the best in the area. Each day they produce home made quiches and sandwiches plus soup to take away. Much of their produce is grown or sourced locally and there is always something tempting on offer.
Stop by Deeside Deli in Ballater or place an order for freshly made sandwiches from their extensive takeaway menu. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is excellent and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
You can get everything you want in this place. All the bits for a picnic or light lunch or supper. Everything is the best quality and you pay for it but I don’t begrudge paying a premium for quality.
I always make sure to visit this place for cheese, local bread, butter, and more whenever I'm in Ballater. Despite being a small shop, they offer a fantastic variety of top-notch food items.
