I decided to try this restaurant based on the Google reviews I had seen, and I was not disappointed. I came for lunch and ordered 3 Empanadas - beef, chorizo, and ham and cheese. The beef was my favorite, and I would be tempted to only get the beef empanadas next time as they were better than the chorizo and much better than the ham and cheese (which was good, but not outstanding in my opinion). The older lady who took my order (who I believe is one of the owners) was extremely friendly and nice. I sat outside, and she even came by to check on me, which is not something you usually see when ordering at the front counter. However, the staff is very knowledgeable and can assist with meal choices. The non-vegan options are prepared with an egg wash. For takeout orders of vegan empanadas, it is recommended to call ahead as they are not precooked. Alternatively, you can wait 15-20 minutes for them to cook on-site or take them home to cook yourself. I ordered the vegan beef empanadas to cook at home and they were delicious, especially when paired with the vegan sauce provided. The staff also easily identified which empanadas contained dairy.
I really enjoyed the Vegan Beef empanada I ordered at this restaurant. Made with plant-based “beef” from Herbivorous Butcher, it was mixed with onions, red peppers, potatoes, and scallions, and came with a delicious vegan dipping sauce. I ordered three empanadas, which made for a satisfying lunch. It was the only vegan option on the menu, besides salad, as the server mentioned that the cooks prefer not to veganize non-vegan empanadas.
