Why are there so many liars? There was nothing good about this place. An old-fashioned truck stop, huh? Thank goodness for the improvements in today's truck stops. Strike 1, it looks just as rundown inside as it does outside. Strike 2, shame on the state of Kentucky for allowing smoking in food establishments. Even worse, this place takes advantage of that and allows people to fill the air with secondhand smoke, making it difficult to breathe. Strike 3, the food was terrible. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and could only manage to take five bites. Not only did it look unappetizing, but it also tasted like something I might regurgitate later on. I used to have great experiences at this restaurant for the past 20 years, but recently it has been declining in quality. Tonight was the final straw. I ordered breaded fish, french fries, and fried mushrooms. The only thing that tasted good was the mushrooms. The fries seemed like they were cooked earlier in the day and then reheated in the microwave, but I ate them because I was hungry. The fish was undercooked and unpleasant, so I couldn't eat it. I complained, but nothing was done – no discount or anything. I ended up vomiting in the bathroom before leaving. The waitress was also rude, making comments implying she was ready to leave. I felt rushed the entire time.
I like the food here. I have never had a single complaint about the food. Our server the other day was great too ... She helped my mess with my brother. She wrapped up some Fried Skunk for him!!! My ONLY complaint is they allow smoking. YUCK! I understand it is a truck stop truckers want the freedom to smoke as they enjoy their meal. However, for the vast majority of us who are non-smokers, I cannot give a higher rating.
An old school truck stop,,pot hole city. Very clean it's an older place but amazing employees with 24 hour restaurant..I am an egg snob very particular about my eggs,I rarely order them at places but figured I'm in the south eeh give it a whirl,,lady knew how to make omelet on the grill,real sausage gravy, potatoes....Free showers,wt heckers??rarley see that anymore.Ill update with pics when I go back

This place doesn't look like much but let me tell you, it is great! Staff are excellent and courteous. The food in the restaurant is on point! We are omelettes and fried taters. Biscuits and gravy were also delicious. Truck parking for free. Showers, diesel and a small general store. The sign is a little small but if you turn the way the sign tells you to, you'll see it.
My favorite restaurant ! Great staff and service always great plus huge portions and great food! Love their salad. It is a smoking inside place and i do not smoke but i love this place and think it is awesome that they still allow smoking inside. I love the USA and this place is the epitome of everything our forefathers stood for. God bless the USA and the DERBY!
Love this place!!!! My grandparents used to bring me here when I was younger, and it just brings back wonderful memories. I love how Derby City is somewhat family owned, I'm actually great friends with the daughter of one of the employees. Anyway, I just love the food here and it's a really great family friendly place! Definitely recommend it !
My husband and I have always went during 3rd shift. Being as in is the only place open all night. Have always gotten great food and its very inexpensive.

The restaurant may not be visually appealing, but the food is delicious. There are only about 20 parking spaces available for large trucks.
