Honeyy have I got the place for the best bun bo hue. But there are rules on how to attain this bowl of noodZ. You must cross a bridge and be in between the hours of pre-gaming and singing your heart out. That is the way to attain these noodZ.Firstly, this restaurant?cafe? karaoke bar? Is on the westbank. Yes you have to cross the bridge to get here... but don't let that deter you. In a shopping mall at the far end on Stumpf there is di Vang. They do have their own parking lot. They have so many good eats that's so good and authentic to me. We ordered to go and got fried pork intestine with pickled veggies and also a raw beef salad. These dishes are so simple and fantastic I am just so happy...
I called to inquire about the toppings they offer for Chao Long. A rude older woman answered the phone and said she didn't know. I explained that I was visiting and had never been to the restaurant before, and I wanted to order Chao Long and find out if they had Doi Sa. Instead of helping, she spoke to someone else and then hung up on me. I noticed that your restaurant has a variety of delicious dishes, but the customer service is severely lacking. You don't need to persuade me to come in just because I'm Vietnamese; I just wanted to highlight this issue so that others might think twice before visiting your establishment.
As an African American customer, I found this place to be extremely unwelcoming. I was denied service for both food and drinks, while the other customers were far more friendly than the staff. I will definitely not be returning and will share my negative experience whenever possible. I might even report this to the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food, as I was never able to taste it. The atmosphere felt exclusive, and I did not feel welcome as someone outside their culture.
The bartender seemed suspicious of my identification because I presented two different IDs: my driver's license and a state ID—one from my home state and the other from Louisiana. Despite this, she still seemed hesitant to serve me. I eventually asked her if she was being difficult because of my race. She denied it, but it was clear she was struggling to validate my IDs. I enjoy this restaurant because they're open late. I usually order takeout, as I'm not a big fan of the smoky flavor. I remember really liking their Bun Bo Hue, but during my last visit, the Bun Rieu and the BBH broth tasted overly sweet and lacked a savory, meaty flavor. Perhaps it was just an off day? I’ll give it another shot to see if it improves.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, even though it was served on styrofoam plates. The bo tai chanh was outstanding and was complemented by a flavorful spicy dipping sauce. The chao long had a delightful balance of flavors. While the chicken wings were somewhat dry, they still made for a decent late-night snack overall.
The experience at Quail was fantastic! The service was excellent, and they even treated me to some delicious thit kho with my dinner as a complimentary gift. If you're in search of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and enjoy singing a bit of karaoke, this is definitely the place for you!
