We used to rate Dick Hudsons but now its below par. Whats gone wrong? We went for a Valentines Day evening meal, last year it was truly awesome, this year God awful. We had to pay a £10 booking fee which was NOT redeemable against our total bill. That is a rip-off. Good quality wines and decent beers but sadly at a price. Steak deal is a disaster, Rump steak, premium pricetag, poorly cooked and full of gristle ie cheap. A few chips and tomatoes, where were the onion rings and mushrooms which is standard in Steak Deal? Normally, Dick Hudson's is a great place to visit but something went wrong during our recent visit. We had booked a table for 14 people and arrived at 6pm to find that many items on the menu were unavailable. There was also a 20-minute wait to get a drink at the bar. Our waitress apologized, mentioning that they had been very busy that day and appeared tired as she had been working since 9am. It seemed like they were short-staffed. The food was decent overall, but the usual lively atmosphere at Dick's was missing. After reading other recent reviews, it seems that our experience was not unique. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and serves delicious food. I visited with friends during the Christmas period and had the Christmas dinner, which was great. I didn't have a starter, but my friends did and they said it was really good. I also tried the honey pot dessert, which was delicious. The pub has a great selection of beers and lagers. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a great visit and we all agreed that we will definitely return.
Called as a family of 4. 3 had steak and one sea bass. Alex who served us was absolutely fantastic what a friendly and smiley member of staff! Brilliant customer service. The food was good, but overpriced for what you receive in my opinion, but I enjoyed it on the whole. Would I return ? possibly, but I feel there’s probably on par, if not better for the price bracket out there.

We had a great experience at Dick Hudsons during our recent visit. The service and attitude of the staff were both friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean, the drinks were excellent, and the food arrived promptly and was delicious, even though they forgot the avocado in the salad. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Very disappointed with the food (told there was limited availability of some items when ordering) Soup was ok, main meals (my wife and I selected the same dish) The chicken was dry and very tough (suggesting it had been reheated) Avocado was over ripe and tasteless and the bacon was again dry. Our friends chips were like crisps.
Went for Boxing Day lunch with family , was superb couldn’t fault it , it was busy and I’m sure the staff were rushed off their feet but the waitress was fantastic , the starter was perfectly cooked as was the main course and the desert to finish off was lovely, all in all we had a fantastic afternoon and will definitely be back
Poor service food ok. Our waitress tried her best sadly plates/bowls were chipped which is a complete no and we had to ask for our drinks as they took a while to come. As did the bill waiting over 20 mins.
