Der letzte Abend unseres jährlichen Winterurlaubs im Cuxland im Jahr 2017 hatte begonnen, und aus dem Kühlschrank im schicken Ferienhaus sprangen wir eine glänzende Leere aus. Was näher war, war es, die wenigen Kilometer nach Cuxhaven zu fahren und dort wieder frischen Fisch zu schleichen. Da wir den alten Fischerhafen erobern wollten, war das natürlich unser erstes Ziel. Doch die Enttäuschung wurde schnell verbreitet, mit Ausnahme der “Fishbörse”, wo wir bereits einen Tag zuvor zu Mittag waren, hatten alle anderen Fischrestaurants für den Abend geschlossen. Okay, also gingen die paar Meter zu den “Loyds”, aber dieser Laden war voller Pausen am Freitagabend. So gab es uns nichts mehr zu lauf...
We were invited for lunch by regular diners of this place, who claimed that the restaurant has the best fish dishes in town. Their claim was not far from truth. I truly enjoyed my choice which was Schollen filets stuffed with smoked salmon and north sea shrimps. The Schollen was fresh and tasty. I didn't even need any salt, pepper or sauce to have it with. The portion size was generous two big filets, one big slice of smoked salmon, a spoonful of shrimps , accompanied by long grain wild rice (or you can ask for fried potatoes the german way or French fries and dill sauce. Dropped in for a late lunch before catching a train out. We spent a very pleasant hour or so, in a nice, friendly and colloquial atmosphere. Food was great, herrings tasty and fresh, the crab soup delightful. Interesting location as well. Surely will come back next time I'm in town.
Overall, it looks like a quantum for seniors. Smell's old death everywhere, open toilets near the tables, cheap and fat food super expensive. Super disappointed by the reviews of others, this is a total demolition.
