This place has been on my radar for a long time as an Oceanside great, but my last visit was truly disappointing. We ordered a carnitas plate, Carne asada burrito and 3 rolled tacos with guac. The reasoning behind the poor score was due to the amount of carnitas they gave for a $15 plate. Now I understand it's a decently priced plate considering inflation, but it was literally less than 3 to 4oz of meat total. It's a shame because I use to go to this place all the time, but with them shorting people on portions I would rather go to Delibertos down the road on Mission Ave and get 5 times the amount of meat for the same price. This is an excellent local restaurant for delicious Mexican food. They offer a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff is incredibly friendly and were very helpful in assisting me with my choice. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was quite substantial. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable. The venue is spacious enough to accommodate large groups, so it’s a perfect place to bring your friends and family to savor their tasty dishes.
Went here for the 2nd time, this time on a Monday evening when business was calmer (vs. Friday evening). It took lots of back and forth to place an order, at the window without a menu available. Then the wait was long. I think the total process from pulling at without any other customers in line to receiving the food was at least 15 minutes. Nearly missed the train!The food itself was bland and disappointing.Will not return
Hands down, my FAVORITE spot for Carne asada fries....I will drive out of my way passed 20 other Mexican restaurants...just to get to Diegos. What a dang gem! The food was delicious, but I was shocked to see a fish taco combo priced at $16.75. The portions of beans and rice were the smallest I've ever encountered—more like a child's serving. They encourage cash payments to help keep prices affordable, but I don’t think I’ll be returning. It just doesn’t seem worth the cost.
We stopped by for breakfast burritos, but both my wife's chorizo and my sausage/bacon were disappointing, earning only 2 stars. The meats were overcooked and dry, making it not worth the effort to eat.
The cashier was Friendly but the food was not worth the high price.
