Vila Real is a busy town at the top of the Douro valley region. It is an important and busy local commercial centre and popular with tourists on wine tours, etc. Unfortunately, it suffers from poorly planned road networks and there is a lot of traffic congestion and schizophrenic road layout. The old town is lovely but getting to it is a struggle. Also unfortunately, it suffers from a lot of dreary, boring restaurants serving rubbish, greasy food. Beautiful restaurant with delicious wines prominently displayed really got our group excited for our meal. We were treated to world class service and cuisine. Guilherme is a talented sommelier and gracious host. He treated us with impeccable service for our Monday lunch. So many memorable dishes. The amuse bouche and bread service alone were worth the trip. Generous servings on appetizers and entrees only further enhanced our experience. Dessert was delicious as well. Trust the sommelier to select your pairing for each course. He did a brilliant job. He was very generous with his time. It really was the highlight of our trip.

A comida é geralmente boa!! Pedimos tataki de atum e pernil, estava bom. A atenção do pessoal do restaurante foi muito boa! Quanto aos pontos negativos, na minha opinião o vinho foi muito caro, 28 e para um branco normal! As poltronas onde nos acomodaram para comer eram muito desconfortáveis! As entradas que te dão quando chega (patê, azeitonas e azeite) são muito caras e também não pedimos, presume-se que se isso acontecer deverá ser de cortesia!! Este último mais o vinho inflacionaram demais o preço! Mas a comida em si era boa!

Wonderful knowledgeable staff. The food was excellent!!! The staff was amazing and the restaurant was so accommodating to our large party of 11. Lovely atmosphere and vibe. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We did the baptism lunch from our son at Cais da Villa and everything was perfect, from the food to the service and the room setting. Thanks a lot to Guilherme and his team, that made this special day even more special.
