Nice to see this restaurant still focusing on the food a real shame however they don’t care as much about the wine. I ordered their special which was venison and it was lovely. I asked what red wine they had and the waitress named 2 3, of which one was a Malbec that I ordered. Now my fault in the first instance in that when it came I should of sent it back, It was very slightly on the turn, It tasted okay however, and it was lunch time and the food had arrived so I stuck with it. Staff were lovely by the way and when the bill came I promptly paid including a decent tip. After always enjoying meals at The Doll's House, we were intrigued by the offer of a reasonably priced set menu all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Despite the smart decor and pleasant waitress, the restaurant was unaware of the advertised set menu offer outside. Eventually, they agreed to honor the price as long as we didn't order anything expensive. However, with five dishes already sold out by 7:30, our choices were limited. We have been occasional visitors to the Dolls House for a few years now. This time, we were celebrating my wife and daughter's birthdays together (although really for my wife as my daughter is just 11 and her official birthday was the next day). We admire the decor, which combines elements of William Morris and French design. Our visit to this restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was warm, cozy, and inviting, and the food was excellent. Garry, our server, made us feel welcomed and well-cared for. His service was outstanding, and his recommendations were perfectly tailored to our preferences, making our meal a hit. Garry even created signature cocktails for us based on our vague preferences, and they were absolutely spot on. We really enjoyed our visit to the Doll's house. The food and service was excellent and we will definitely be back when it reopens in the Spring.
By far the best Festive meal we have had out ever! Lovely starters and beautifully cooked turkey with all the trimmings great portions too!
