Don Vito's is a lovely little Newcastle Italian restaurant situated upstairs at the bottom of Pilgrim Street. We visit as a family now and again for the meal deal of 2/3 courses for a set price. The food is good value for the meal deal...price. I get Potato skins for starter and Margherita pizza for main. The Potato skins are a bit too salty but other than that they are nice. The pizza is an authentic Italian style pizza. My other family members enjoy the Calzones. It is always very quiet whenever we have visited which is usually in the early evening during the week. Took my wife for lunch to this lovely restaurant today and the food was superb. I had the potato skins for a starter and my wife had garlic mushrooms and we both had a petsa pizza as a main. We met the owner who is...a genuine nice guy who is doing his best in these trying times to do the absolute right thing in regard to the hygienic preparation of the food he serves and the way he serves and hosts his customers. Because of the extra precautions he is taking the food takes a little longer to prepare than normal but it is well worth it when you receive it. This restaurant is a nice little place with really good value tasty freshly cooked food and I highly recommend it.
We visited Don Vito's tonight for the first time. What a pleasant evening it was. On arrival it was obvious that all precautions had been taken to help protect both customers and staff at this current time, and although the tables were spaced apart, it...still felt atmospheric with a nice relaxed feeling. The staff were pleasant and suitably attentive. Our meals arrived promptly and turned out to be delicious. We both had pizzas which were well topped and perfectly cooked. Andreas is the perfect host. In these times it is nice to find a restaurant trying so hard to provide a good dining experience. We will certainly be going back. Thank you Andreas and all your staff.
I was the recipient of a prize in a competition that Don Vito’s ran on their FB page. The prize was up to 4 Sunday lunches, delivered at a time of my choosing . I ordered two beef and one lamb. The meat was beautiful,...as were the potatoes, vegetables and gravy. Absolutely delicious. The delivery arrived 5 mins early! Which is a rarity when getting food delivered. If you are looking for a great quality, reasonably priced Sunday lunch, or great Italian food (I can vouch for this thanks to the many visits I’ve made) then you have to try Don Vito’s. A family owned restaurant with exceptional food.

when they are round and about newcastle looking for authentic Italian foods they do not see further. don vito is truly unique. I was on many places serving Italian cuisine in newcastle, but often was disappointed. in general there are many large chains, the frozen...products or other that pretend to be Italian. don vito is what I would call the last mohikaner. the quality of the pizza and pasta looks and tastes like the one I tried three years ago in my trip to italia. it is by far the best Italian restaurant in the city.
we were regular visitors of don vito for a few years and it never disappointed. there is something for everyone, but the menu is not so comprehensive to be overwhelming and each dish is cooked to perfection. the location is ideal for the Quayside...and the city center with magnificent views from the first floor of the restaurant. the service is unmarried, but attentive.
simply the best marinara around! it is a recipe of the 5th generation that has been perfected. the spaghetti and meatballs, lasagne and pizza were from this world. the portions were generous and make them happy that there is rest. we're coming back!
