I discovered my love for Japanese cuisine while dining at this restaurant. The food is excellent and authentic, the staff is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Just being there brings back memories of simpler times in my youth. If you haven't been to this place yet, trust me and take the time to stop by for lunch and experience true Japanese cuisine. Definitely deserving of five stars.
Located just a few blocks north of Ocean Boulevard, this restaurant operates cafeteria style with customers ordering at the counter and seating themselves. While they do not offer sushi, they have a great variety of udon and ramen dishes. I opted for the Nabayake udon which was delicious, featuring fresh vegetables, tofu, and a cooked egg. They also have Japanese beer and soft drinks available.
Absolutely loved Donburi. I make Tonkatsu and Chicken Katsu at home, so I wanted to see how the authentic Katsu would taste. Totally blew mine out of the water. My wife loves ramen and she said this was the best ramen she had ever eaten. If I lived in California, I'd come back here day after day. The staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Just seeing her made me smile.
