As Gringo, this is a great place to go. You will definitely experience local culture. As many of the other reviews have indicated, food is simple and easy. The service is usually a little slow considering that it should be fast food. However, you cannot get something like this in the USA. Local celebrities often stop here. Last time I was there, a vallenato singer and a telenovela actress thought there was a late evening snack. This is a great place to sit and watch with a few friends. Also, you cannot beat the price. The inner seat is not very cold, but it is air conditioned. I'd rather sit outside, especially at night. I love the plate with steak, chicken, bolo, corn and small fried stick...
I was in Donde Esta Javier several times. The prices for fast food in Colombia are a little high, but the food is tastefully plentiful and good quality. I suggest going to Calle 84 and enjoying the Rumba and eating at donde esta Javier. This night is what Barranquilla is about. It has all classic Colombian fast food favorites and the atmosphere is fun young and full of life. The only reason is that this is not a five star because you find the same food at better prices. all over town.
