I have been going to this bar for years. The bar itself is fantastic. I am a local so having a local bar that is inexpensive and welcoming has always been great. But... the new bar tender is an overly agressive piece of work. My friends and I went in there, bought a few drinks and were playing music on the juke box. He approached us, with clenched fists yelling about skipping songs. He called us grimey for skipping his friends songs, saying that his friends paid good money for their music and that we were grimey for skipping their music. The second room features a few small booths on the left, a long table with stools on the right, and a $0.50 pool table in the center. The clientele varies from the early-morning crowd (the Breakfast Club) arriving promptly at 8 a.m. to folks in their 20s and 30s looking for a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of drinks. The pricing is very reasonable: $2 PBR drafts and $8 PBR pitchers, along with $2.50 Henry Weinhard's beers and $8.50 pitchers. While they have a few other taps, the selection primarily includes standard domestics and a couple of IPAs. On Sundays during NFL games, there is usually free food available for everyone, though I can't say where it comes from since there isn't a kitchen...
During a recent trip to Boston, we visited this bar a couple of times primarily because our hotel didn't have a bar, and this one was the closest option. It was convenient for us after a day filled with activities when we wanted to relax near our hotel. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have chosen to go there, but I'm really glad we did. Although it's definitely a dive bar, it turned out to be a great spot to chat with some of the friendly locals. The bar staff was also very welcoming. Just a heads up, this place only accepts cash, but there is an ATM available. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own if you like!
Just walked into this bar after a long day of work and it was 7 PM. I sat down on a empty chair and within 15 seconds this angry white guy told me to get out of his chair and cursed at me. I felt disrespected and embarrassed and couldn't help but think that this guy was just a racist ****. I didn't even have time to order a drink so I can say anything about the service but this review does highlight the quality of people who are regulars. Also no one from the bar said anything to the guy before I left.

This is where my best friend and I started our first pub crawl in Boston. It is a dive bar in the best sense of the word. It was the perfect way to start our night and it is also a place I would go again. Mostly locals but we seemed to fit right in. The staff was amazing. Kevin was great and put up with us California girls. He took pictures for us and even let me video tape his accent. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Plus only $3 beers! But it is cash only!
This place is a total dive. No food. Cash only. Cheap drinks. Keno. Heavy pours. Lots of older regulars. But everyone is friendly (especially the bartenders). The couple weekend nights I've been there you get some young Dot residents. Food is BYOB and you can order from Pantry or Avenue pizza down the street and they'll deliver.
Total dive: carpeted, well-lit, lots of old folks, cash-only and super cheap. They have pool tables and they let you bring in your own food. I brought a pizza in from Pantry the night the Red Sox won in 2013. Classic.
If you love a super chill vibe, playing pool, and making friends with locals... then by all means I'll see you there. Otherwise don't expect it to be something it's not, and complain about it.

This is one of the best dive bars I've ever experienced. They offer pool, darts, keno, and strong drinks at great prices. It really can't get any better than this!
