After having eaten here a number of times in the past and having a good experience, we thought we'd take our friends who are up from Melbourne.Food has gone down hill, one of the courses a 500g rib eye, was full of gristle and largely inedible. We were disappointed so thought as we'd previously had good experiences, we would provide feedback - maybe the supplier had changed and the quality was no longer as good, allowing the chef to remedy the position going forward.What commenced from that point onwards could only be described as contempt towards the customer, patronising and extremely rude. 3rd and last visit. Ordered the rib-eye for 2. Full of gristle and sinew. Told the waitress and clearly sent back a plate full of inedible gristle. Was patronised and told by the wait staff that rib-eye is a fatty meat. I cook rib-eye on a regular basis, I know what that cut of meat is like. When I insisted that the meat was an inferior product the staff again proceeded to tell me that fatty is not the issue. My husband went to speak with the chef/owner who, did not want to hear about the issue with his food but was only interested in telling him that his wife was rude and aggressive. Family of five for dinnertime Saturday evening. Excellent service from really friendly and helpful staff. Three steaks were ordered. A Venison meal. Plus the Chicken and Bug meal. All arrived at the same time and according to the steak eaters, the steaks were done to perfection! Venison meal was delicious. My Chicken dinner was devine! Whilst these meals were lovely, no complaints where the food is concerned. But....way to expensive! This would be the only reason I wouldn't go back.
This restaurant has quality written all over it. Whether it was the lamb, the seafood or the steak meals, we were all delighted with our meals. It is also worth mentioning that the wine selection is far superior than what you will find in the majority of local restaurants. The wait staff were very friendly and competent. Recently had the pleasure of dining at this funky little restaurant next to the Redlands Performing Arts Centre. The food was fabulous, the wine at the perfect temperature and a short hop and jump across the road to our concert after dinner.Definitely worth a visit
Have been to Doug and Pearl for both lunch and dinner and cannot rate them highly enough. The quality of both the food and service are consistently of a high standard. Without doubt one of the better dining establishments in Cleveland.
The food was average in quality with what we considered was excessive use of flavours. Servings were below average and the price was above average. We had the Risotto and the poached chicken.

What a cute place to relax and get a decent meal. Location is great, right on the corner roundabout of middle. Food is fresh and delicious, we will be back!!
