Been ordering from here for about a year. A really mixed bag. Their food can be so so good, but there are definitely nights where they aren’t monitoring the quality of what they’re serving.I’ve had delicious ribs here before, but I’ve also had cold ribs with barely any meat. I’ve received ribs with no sauce despite ordering sauce. I’ve had amazing fried chicken here, I’ve had fried chicken with practically no seasoning and cold. I always order extra gravy, idk why I bother because they never give me it despite me paying for it.How good the food is, the times when the food is good, is what keeps me ordering. But it’s always rolling the dice whether we will get what we ordered or even quality...
I am convinced that people who rate this food any higher than a 2 star obviously never had good soul food (n will most likely eat anything put in front of them). However, if you are used to good soul food THIS AINT IT!!! The so called Mac n cheese is awful, not sure what type of “cheese” they use but it’s not sharp cheddar or no creamy sauce… it’s the texture of scrambled eggs, just awful. The greens are even worse, BIG fat greens with no flavor, no love. My baked chicken was hard n definitely over cooked with no seasoning. You are better off cooking yourself. They will always be able to feed greedy people who are not used to great soul food, but picky people who know good food STAY AWAY!!!...
The food was horrible. I was craving real fried chicken and fried fish. I don’t live in Dorchester and Down Home Kitchen was place I wanted my food from. Well that was a big mistake. The fish was not fully cooked and tasted old and bitter. The same with the chicken wings. The potato salad was horrible they put more celery seeds in it than potatoes. Adding insult to being completely disappointed I was charge for a full fish meal of $13 instead of $9.99 for a piece of fish. I had to throw the fish away and put the wings in the oven to cook more. Very disappointed customer ???
What saddens me is that the food quality has declined tremendously! The food used to be soooo good 2 years ago but I believe they have a new cook because 3 times in a row my greens have been bland and they forgot my cornbread. I want this business to succeed but I need you guys to cook with excellence. I've always recommended you to everyone but I no longer feel comfortable doing so. INEDIBLE FOOD!!! Salty salty SALTY. If the food is a little bit salty, okay fine, whatever. But the fried chicken I ordered was DROWNED in flakes of salt. I tried to eat some of the dinner but ended up throwing most of it away. Very disappointed…and also just confused???Who actually thinks it’s normal to have a tablespoon of salt in every bite? Black people WE ARE PRONE TO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE DO NOT EAT HERE!
This place alone isn’t really that good recently the quality of the food has been dropping my steaks bites were full of fat and my potato salad just had 0 flavors and after eating I fell sick. But there also days were this food is a 10/10 but 9 times out of 10 it’s not that tasty. Come at you own risk.
BBQ chicken was cold and taste old, they drowned it w BBQ sauce. On top of it all there was nothing candy about their YAMS.. The greens was the only thing I was able to eat. I WILL NEVER GO BACK??????
They messed up my entire order.. I asked for bbq wings with sweet corn and fries and they gave me sweet chili wings with collard greens and Mac cheese.. will not be ordering from here Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I guess it just depends on what you order. I got the smothered pork chops, greens yams. The smothered pork chops were fire, I can’t lie. Everything else was just okay… :
