It was Pride weekend and we were looking for somewhere to eat right after the parade had ended. The staff worked hard to get our party of 5 seated quickly, although that meant cramming us into a corner. But it would have all been worth it if the food had been delicious. I'm a big sushi fan and in Vancouver it is unacceptable to have anything less than stellar sushi in a dense urban neighbourhood such as the West End. The sushi rice was undercooked, and it was cold as in, it had been cooled/refrigerated. Sushi should be served at room temperature. Not cold! I was really disappointed with my visit here. To start the waitress was rude and didn't even seat us, she told us to sit where ever. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch box, and it arrived 10 minutes before my girlfriends sushi. When I saw my lunch I was really unhappy. The lunchbox was so small, it didn't taste much better. The rice was like glue, the chicken was dry and the tampora was cold. I ate about half of it and had to wait 15 minutes for the bill. When the bill finally arrived, I told the server I was happy and she looked at me and said you ate it. This place is a total waste, I could have gone down the street and gotten a good lunch box for $7, but me wanting to try something new...
Genuine, fresh, healthy. This place recently re opened after shutting down for a full interior renovation. It's back with the same menu full of variety and more importantly the excellent sushi and other Japanese food. They proudly advertise their fresh, wild salmon and tuna and for good reason. If you like your fish raw (as in sashimi), this is the place to go. Even if you're not a seafood fan, the other Japanese food is also well made. It's one of those places that I've been to so many times, that I know I can safely pick anything on the menu and enjoy it. Okanagan Springs is on tap, which makes a nice addition to your meal.
Yummy AND Delicious. This IS THE BEST sushi place in Vancouver. I seriously can not eat anywhere else but here as far as sushi is concerned because it is soooooooooooooo good. I highly recommend the Deep Fried Dynamite roll THE whole roll is deep fried...yummmmmy. There food is always presented so nicely. They have an open kitchen so you can see that the chefs handle the food very clean. Plus it's ALWAYS busy, so you know its gotta be good.

We used to go to Sushi Bella on Davie, but finding it closed for good we thought we try the Downtown Sushi bar on Davie. Decor is rather shabby and univiting, service a bit casual but the food was some of the best sushi we’ve had in this city of many many sushi restaurants. Prices reasonable and portions generous. We’ll go again for sure!
we could not decide where to go to eat, dtr took us to the Downtown Sushi. The food was ok, the decor was not good. I had a bento box never had soy beans mixed with my rice before. did not like it. we had to remind the waiter of my husband's order
It was my first time in the restaurant and unfortunately there was a hair in the middle of the sushi. Not the best experience but I know that it can happen. The waiter was kind and nice. I can give another chance.
I needed to grab a bite before an engagement. The sushi combo plate was a great price, tasty, and a very generous serving. I had a window seat and could people watch while I ate.

Wow so full so good We shared one ramen bowl and avocado roll. Awesome and so affordable. Nice clean place and great service too
We enjoyed this place for sushi. They offer many gluten free options and carry a GF soy sauce. Good value.
