We decided to visit the Chateau and so this was an obvious place for lunch being opposite the front gate. We went for the Poisson de jour simply as it seemed the easiest to understand of the French dishes and it was delicious. An extremely tasty fish served in a great sauce with very interesting vegetable towers. Followed up with some profiteroles and accompanied by a drink in the 15 euro deal it was a good value tasty meal served by helpful and speedy staff. I'd almost give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the cumbersome effort of paying where we had to walk through to the hotel where a receptionist painstakingly wrote out our bill by hand. Quaint but we could have done without a queue...
Standard fare, goats cheese salad was fine but the honey dressing appeared to be missing. Smoked salmon salad okay too. Salad purely leaves. As a party of two, we were ordered away from the nicest, coolest available table as it was for 4. 35 degrees outside but nice and cool indoors unfortunately they wouldn’t allow anyone to sit inside. Right by the busy road so quite noisy. Right opposite entrance to Chateau de Campagne but if you are visiting the chateau it looks like they have a better option for eating than here.
Why do we come back every year? Because of course we eat there, foie gras, exquisite meat, seasonal vegetables, and desserts....hummmmmmmmmmm, dessert around strawberries and Norwegian omelet. Because we are welcomed there better than kings, like friends simply. For the humour of the boss...aiah, Ouch, Ouch. For the good mood. Excellent address for all bikers and others.
Don't expect a warm welcome if you just want to sit OUTSIDE in the sun many outside tables free but INSTRUCTED we must sit inside first impression not friendly!! Understand that outside only for a meal but when so quiet why!!
