Du Col Du Tourmalet

I last saw this restaurant in August 2018, when riding my motorbike through the Pyrenees, but on that occasion there was standing room only, and I decided to eat further down the valley. On this occasion, we were skiing down, and saw the same restaurant. It is in a convenient spot, but only if you come down the Blue slope! The building appears small, but in reality there are many tables inside. Along one long side there are many windows, which give an extraordinary view down into the valley far below. We were extremely fortunate to find the place almost empty, and so were able to choose a superb view. We had a super welcome, and excellent service resonantly quick, and charming. The range of...

The waitress was English! We just had a drink in the sunshine with that view! It was a nice stop. The toilets were fine although I don’t enjoy being in the room with men using the urinal but this appears to be a French thing.

A great spot to sit outside at the top of the Tourmalet and enjoy a chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), some chocolat cake and a cheese and ham “sandwich”.

Cycled all the way up the tourmalet to find the resto open but only to pay €3 for a can of cola and no water available. Why bother? '

So what if the prices are grossly inflated. It’s still a great place to have a beer. Fantastic views
