It is unclear why this restaurant is popular, other than its trendy wine list. There are no physical menus, so customers are forced to use their smartphones, which can be seen as discriminatory. The web menu is difficult to navigate and the hostess offered me an iPad but never delivered it. The service was lacking, as it was unclear who our dedicated server was. We waited 20 minutes for water and our empty plates remained on the table when new plates arrived. I had to ask for them to be taken away. There was only one type of small oyster available and the fish dish I ordered was mostly arugula. Overall, the portions were small and the quality of the food was lacking.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food and wine were outstanding. The dining room is charming and lively, creating a fantastic atmosphere with dishes that are simply stunning. Although some dishes were more on the basic side, the fish tacos were absolutely perfect. The crudo was also delicious, but I could have done without the overpowering apple. The Moules Frites were exceptional, but I may be biased because I love that dish. I will definitely be returning in the future.
I love this spot for the food, ambiance and great wine list, but the hostess is 9 times out of 10 unnecessarily condescending to and treats guests like they are children. It’s a major turnoff I’ve experienced in my last few visits that has left a bad taste in my mouth deterring me from going back. I get you’re stressed and people can be annoying but you made a choice to work in hospitality and more importantly, are the first and last touch point in the business… it’s important.
This is the spot that fits practically any occasion birthday, date, family gathering, visiting friends, celebration, anniversary, break up… you name it. this place is alive and can become quite loud. Eating was okay not to write home. they do not offer a reservation, so prepare for the long waiting period. I also noticed that if they are friends with the host, they can sit down before guests who have waited for a table.
Loved every second in this restaurant. Service was impeccable and food was beautiful. If you are visiting LA you have to visit this restaurant.
