You can’t go wrong with Dunnes. It’s a must try!! Used to go to Browns ice cream which closed down and then Dunnes came about! Same ice cream but new branding and a new building! The Ice cream is exceptional and they have such a good variety of flavours. The staff working are always super nice, and often it’s young adults who are all saving up for something (They each have their own tip jars that say what they are saving for) I think it’s neat that they always hire young adults, every season it always seems to be the case and I think it’s great. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are insane. I ordered a small mint chip in a cup(pictured below) and it was huge lol. Definitely stop by...
Dunne’s Ice Cream is the epitome of your local ice cream shop. It has a massive amount of cleverly named flavors, all sorts of sundaes and combinations of ice cream, and you’ll feel right at home when you order. The ice cream isn’t the best in the world it tastes pretty similar to what you’d get at most places but when driving around this area of Maine, you’ll be hard pressed find anything better. There’s a decent amount of parking but do be prepared this place can get very busy! Prices are pretty good and the portions are huge. Dunne's Ice Cream is fantastic! The flavors are delicious, and there are so many to choose from! They are quite generous with their portions, so be mindful of how large a cone you order. The prices are reasonable, and the staff are very friendly! I visit every year and have never been let down. Plus, the view of the lighthouse is a wonderful bonus! Be sure to check it out—you'll love it!
CASH ONLY which is weird in this digital age and meant we couldn’t get anything the first time we visited. Convenient location if you head to the lighthouse but otherwise there are other good shops closer to the town center or in York Village, etc., and all others we’ve seen offer multiple payment options. I've been coming here for years, and it truly has the best ice cream you'll ever taste. The staff is made up of college students who are friendly and a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!
The ice cream is incredibly smooth and creamy. I ordered the kiddy cone, which in other places would probably be considered a large small or medium size. It was absolutely delicious!
Great selection of flavors, the most you'll find around! Pretty good prices, but on the upper end. Cash only, so come prepared! Great stop after a long hot day on York Beach.
