We visiting Melbourne for 5 weeks and living in the Glen Iris area. Friday night, cool and wet, we decided Fish n Chips was the go to dinner. And we were not disappointed. First Friday we went late about 7.45pm and second about 6.00pm. Both times meant a long wait around 30 minutes but there is plenty of seating and reading matter and we didn't mind because it was so good. We tried both the straight fish and chips and the fisherman's basket.. excellent value, non-greasy batter and beautiful chips. Prawns and Scallops in basket were of generous size and full of flavour. We'll return before we head back to Sydney for sure.
Eat Fish excels in both quality ans consistency. I have never had a badly cooked fish or soggy chips from here. The chips are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the fish is always fresh.The shop can get busy especially on a Friday which brings up my only negative. It is impossible to phone through your order on a Friday night as no one picks up the phone. This is bad customer service but the quality of the food is certainly excellent.
Ordered take away fish & ships on a cold wet night. Place was crowded when I arrived to pick-up including a number of tables of patrons eating in (tables too close to take away counters leaving people looking over the shoulders of those eating). Take-away was efficient and food looked good. Ample quantity however that taste of the fish, chips and potato cakes was not up to the standard you would expect in the suburbs of Melbourne.
This fish and chip shop had a good reputation so we gave it a try and were delighted. The shop is clean, with very fresh looking food including some fresh salads. The ordering system was efficient. the fish is not cheap but is of a very good quality. We asked for our chips to be well done- and they were. It gets very busy but they have a good system. Would definitely go back.

Around Melbourne there are a lot of Fish&Chips but usually the fish will be soggy or the chips half cooked. Not Eat Fish, they offer good quality fish, the batter is well made and the frying just perfect so you get a crunchy crust and s soft fish inside. Just the way it should be. The fitout is also modern and interesting.
This just be undoubtedly the best fish n chips place in melbourne. It is the best I have ever tried. Only fresh ( just off the boat caught) fish and it is amazing. Tried a lot of places ( Hunky Dory among others) and they are not even in the same league! I know they have at least 2 locations. Only tried the Ashburton.
Hands down the best fish and chips in the state in my opinion. The produce is so fresh and cooked to perfection. We only get take away here...and my family who live a few suburbs away have started to travel just for their takeaway. So good!!!
Basically just your "run of the mill" fish and chip shop. The fish appears nice and fresh, however on my last purchase the batter on the fish was soggy and you could squeeze the fat out. Totally ruined the taste of the fish.

I have has as good at cheaper prices elsewhere (but rarely), but this place does try really hard to give a good service. The fish is fresh and properly cooked. The burgers are also of good quality. So it is worth a look.
